I'm assuming just because you have to hit a certain score to get them. They're trying to encourage the people who hate the new game to try it out. You don't really have to get a good score to get the gold pin if you're playing against some really stinky players

The Gold Pins are tradeable (and not the others) because you could conceivably win a Bronze or Silver Pin every game you play. The Gold Pin is a reward for winning ten games, which is more difficult than it used to be to get the Fireworks Magic Pins (the first 5 players could each get a Fireworks Magic Pin in the same game, hypothetically, since you could get it by winning or by placing with the appropriate score).
