looking for ride info

We got our annual passes this weekend and spent the day at IOA. Since we are new to Universal I've got some questions about some of the rides. Is there a guide like the one for disney that describes the parks and the rides.

Also I am a huge chicken when it comes to rides and the Forbidden Journey at Harry Potter is about the limit of what I can do. I'm just wondering about some of the other rides like the Twister ride, the mummy ride and MIB. I think I can handle the simpsons but I'm wondering about those other rides.

Am I correct in thinking that the spiderman ride is like a car that stays level and does not make any moves like sudden drops or stuff like that?

If you can handle Simpsons, then I think you'll be fine on MiB, Spiderman, and Twister (which is a show, not a ride). Mummy is a coaster, but in terms of intensity somewhere between the kiddie coasters and the big daddys Hulk, HRRR, and DC.

Relative to FJ, Spiderman is less intense, IMO. Spiderman is a car on a track that spins from time to time to orient you towards the action and bumps a bit too. Spiderman employs 3-D effects whereas FJ does not.

MIB, in my opinion, is just like Toy Story Mania at DHS. In fact, my husband says he prefers MIB to Toy Story Mania. If memory serves, there are 4 (or perhaps 6?) to a "tiered" car (there's a front seat and a higher, front seat). The car does spin around and around from time to time as you "shoot" aliens and the like to rack up points.

Have you been on The Simpsons before? Right after Forbidden Journey, it's my favorite simulator ride. The ride does make you feel as if you are plunging down a rollercoaster, falling, etc., etc. I thought I would hate it (And I'm the BIGGEST ride chicken going), but I loved it. Some of the videos on YouTube are a bit dark and grainy, but try to check one of them out so you can see the effects.

I said a big fat NO to the Mummy. I can handle speed ... Just not drops. I love the theming, but I'm always a bit reluctant to go on Splash Mountain at WDW. We're going to Universal again at the end of November, so I have some time to sort of work up some courage for the Mummy.

Truth be told, I was expecting a bit more from Spiderman. Don't get me wrong: I loved it. I was just expecting a bit more "Wow!"

I would seriously suggest you do try your best to 'build up the courage' for the Mummy. You will regret it if you never experience this ride. It is one of the best themed rides anywhere in the world. Really cannot be missed.

As for expecting the a bit more from Spiderman all I can say is... You're crazy!

Oh, I'm working on it. If only there wasn't a drop. I know, I know ... Suck it up. I have until late November. I keep telling myself that if I can handle Splash Mountain's 52 foot drop, I can handle The Mummy.

I loved Spiderman BUT ... Yeah, I was expecting just a teensy bit more. A co-worker kept telling me, "It's the best ride in all of Universal! As soon as the ride ends, you'll want to get back in line for it, etc., etc." To be fair, though, we did Spiderman toward the end of our trip ... After Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey and after The Simpsons (My favorite). It was a great ride, though, and I'm looking forward to riding it again.
