I really wanted to eat at 50's Prime Time Cafe this trip, but it will be closed during our January trip. So now I'm looking at Hollywood & Vine. Can someone tell me about this restaurant? Did you like it?

We ate here 2 years ago -- and vowed never to go back. I think I am in the minority though. Our waitress disappeared and didn't clean up our plates. The food on the buffet was o.k. but nothing spectacular. The place seemed really dirty with food on the floor, all over the buffet, etc. We had gone there previously when it was a character meal and really enjoyed it. Just seemed kind of expensive for a so-so buffet. We went to Brown Derby last year and decided that was definitely our choice for a good MGM meal.

We ate dinner at the H&V a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. Our waitress was great and we thought the food was also really good. I remember we all really liked the turkey pot roast and there was a good selection for the kids. The tables are a little too close together but we were a party of 8, so it seemed like we had a little extra room. and the H&V can be LOUD.

We are going back there this January. We usually do 2 meals at the studios, and our other favorite is the 50's prime time, but like you said, it will be closed when we are there. So just the H&V for us this time!

Have a great trip!

Same here. Probably the worst buffet on property.

We ate in October, and LOVED IT!

I've read so many threads on H&V and it seems to be in the love it or hate it!! and the haters are passionate haters, and post their reasons...

Our cm was marvelous, very attentive, she even sat down next to dd to help her (or play with her!!) with the glowing cube we got with her drink!! We went with my parents, this way everyone gets to chose from a variety of well prepared, and tasty food, from seafood, to ham... I dont think the desserts were that great - they did have a variety, and I like to take one of everything, but honestly some of the bites werent worth finishing!! They had ice cream with so many different toppings, dd just had the toppings :rotfl2: !!

So maybe it boils down to expectations, for me it was so much better the Old Country Buffet that it was well worth it!!

DH and I like Hollywood and Vine, but I probably wouldn't go there if not for the Fantasmic dinner package. I enjoy the marinated steak, root beer sweet potatoes and lo mein in particular, but everything else I've tried is good too. For dessert I can only remember an ice cream bar, but I'm sure they have other stuff too.

We've eaten their three times....

The first was in 2003 & we loved it....

The second was in June of 2004 & it was ok, but not nearly as good as our first visit....

The last time was in October of 2005 and it was terrible.

The food has really gone downhill and our server was mediocre at best.

Needless to say, we won't be returning.

we ate there in June 05. It was fantastic. The best place we ate in 2 weeks. We will be going back in Oct 06.

We also booked the dining package for the show. We ate at 4.00pm and had plenty of time for the parade.

We ate there in August 2005 and didn't like the food at all. We had a great waiter though.

We ate there in November and thought it was good. We had a very attentive server and the food was fine. Typical buffet selection. We really enjoyed the Turkey Pot Roast and the pasta. The desert bar wasn't too bad, but didn't have anything memorable either. I would eat there again.

Our experience pretty much matches Tink10. H&V was really good a few years ago. It has been going downhill over the last couple of years. We had dinner there in June and the selections were fair, at best. My DS (15) could barely find anything he could eat, although he enjoyed the desserts. I ended up eating a ton of salmon because I couldn't find much else to eat. The salmon was good, but some better options were sorely needed.
We also will not return to H&V until they get back to what they were a few years ago.
Very, very disappointing meal.

we ate there 2 years ago and we loved it. although the buffet selections were good to average my family enjoyed it very much. i have 2 picky eaters in my family so a buffett is an easy choice to make. the dessert bar was great. honestly it was a hands down winner over the buffett at Cape May. more then once my DW remarked how much better HV's buffett was much better.

We ate there last week. I found the food to be very good. It all tasted fresh and my kids all found something that they really liked. My dh loved the mashed potatoes, I loved the pasta w/broccoli, chicken, scallops and alfredo sauce. My 5 yo ds loved the peel and eat shrimp, my 3 yo ds loved the salmon, and my 2 yo ds loved a little bit of everything. I found the food to be comparable to other buffets we ate at last week. I would go back for the Fantasmic dinner package.

We ate at Hollywood and Vine on Oct 29, 2005. It was our first visit to this restaurant and we were happy with the food quality and selection. I wouldn't say it was a "top rated - gourmet" meal, but the food was well prepared and tasty. Our server was adequate - we don't rely on servers to entertain us or do anything special, just provide good service and she did just that. Due to being a "diet controlled" diabetic I strictly limit my carb intake and did not have any problem finding sufficient selections to satisfy my hunger. DH and I would go back to Hollywood and Vine if we were at MGM.

We ate there in Sep 2004 and it was just ok. The food was bland and the service was so-so. This year we are going to give Sci-fi a try.

:confused3 we have never tried it but I have read lot's of good reviews and some not so good............

We ate there last week. I agree with Puddleduck. We all found something we liked. I loved the alfredo with crab & brocoli and the turkey pot roast. My husband ate a lot of peel & eat shrimp as well as two other plates of food. One of my sons liked the prime rib and said the mashed potatoes were the best. Two of my sons got mac and cheese, chicken nuggets and some other things from the children's part of the buffet, but they also found a lot on the adult buffet. There were a lot of choices. The kids also really liked the sundae bar, which had a lot of toppings. We would eat there again. Our waitress was good and kept our drinks filled.

We ate there last week and didn't much care for it at all. It was our first time there (the Fantasmic package). Our server was terrific, which was the bright spot. The restaurant was very crowded and the buffet was spotty: no salad in the bowl, lots of entrees were fairly well picked over or empty. Our kids (16, 13 and 5) tend to be picky eaters and they did find several things they liked, but everyone agreed we wouldn't pick it again. If you like buffets, I suppose it's OK ... but don't expect anything oustanding (like Boma) or an especially fun dining experience (like the character buffets).
Our favorite restaurant in MGM hands-down is the SciFi.

We stumbled upon H&V by accident during our July 2004 trip. I was getting fast passes and rider swap passes for ToT and RnR so the kids could ride both over and over (and over and over).....
I sent DH out to make us some dining ressies in the meantime. He saw a sign out front promoting the Fastasmic dinner package....Eat at H&V and get priority seating at Fantasmic. So he made our ressies there.
We were pleasantly surprised at the food offered there. I remember I liked it better than Crystal palace. I can't remember exactly what I had to eat...I just remember that I really liked it, lol. I especially liked the desserts. I think I tasted all of them.
The kids liked the kids buffet there. Standard kid stuff...mac/ch, hot dogs, chic nuggies, you get the idea.
One thing that really stands out for me was that 2 of my girls fell asleep after eating their food...one hopped in the stroller (they let us take it inside) and the other one fell asleep curled right up on her chair, lol. Well, our waitress credited us back for their meals! We didn't even ask her to, she offered to and we took her up on it.
Getting priority seating for Fantasmic was really nice too. No lines to wait in...just showed up at the time we were supposed to and got our seats. We were pleased.

hth.
Jennifer.
