I've read through the several posts to see if there is one I can use...

Our trip isn't until the end of January. I have been planning since July. We were going to surprise my two youngest grandkids with the trip a few days before we go. I'll be taking my DisneyDIL and two grandkids (8 and 10), plus two other grandkids (15 and 18).

Well my problem is a family member of my DIL found out and has told several in their family. When they come together for Thanksgiving, I know someone in their family will spill the beans about Disneyland to the kids.

I have to come up with something for this Sunday or risk not seeing their excitement when they find out they are going to Disneyland.

What ideas  do you have for surprising an 8 and 10 year old with a trip over two months away?????

TIA

We surprised our boys with fortune cookies. Our youngest opened his first and it said,"today your parents will surprise you........." then our oldest opened his which said
".....with a vacation to Disneyland ." They are fairly easy to make, just you tube how to make it and you will find lots of videos on how to make fortune cookies. Order in some Chinese and give the kids the cookies for dessert.

Head down to the new Disney outlet store in Woodburn and pick out some stuff for each of them (they have ornaments out now too!) and a Disney gift card for each....pack them up as a cute present with an itinerary or some sort of "invitatioin" and give it to them this weekend?

I'm sorry family ruined the suprise...I didn't tell ANYONE in my family about our March trip (1st trip for DS7 and suprise trip) until 2 weeks prior for that exact reason LOL

You can pick up new shirts for each GC at the Disney Store and wrap them up with a note inside that says "For our Trip to Disneyland".
Sorry it didn't go as planned, but I am sure the kids are going to love to countdown the days until their trip.

We did a scavenger hunt, I made clues and the girls followed them from to the next until they got to the "treasure chest", the treasure chest was simply out trip packet that I had wrapped in a bandanna with skulls on it. :) It was pretty easy and they loved it, I just used things around the house that we already had so it was relatively inexpensive as well.

Sorry family ruined it for you. :/

What about getting a cute calendar (99 cent store has them out) for 2013.. go to the dates you will be going and write Disneyland Today!! or Going to meet Mickey (or any character that they like, etc) in there.. Maybe even put on the last day of January.. a surprise is on the way.. or do a countdown on the days in the month you are going... 5...4..3...2..1 ....
The calendar they could use to write on.. look at the photos and have a forever keepsake.. they also have the journal type ones that they could use as a diary for the year.. might be nice for them to look at when they are grown..

awdsmama - We're headed down to the Woodburn store after lunch. We'll see what they have.

Still working on details of the reveal... Thank you everyone for your ideas.

I'll have a nice conversation with the family Blabber Mouth when I see her!!!

Oh well...... I'll keep checking here to see other ideas for the reveal.

Download the Mickey font (it's under a ton of different names) and then write a letter to them from Mickey saying he's inviting them to come visit him and give them that. :) Or do the balloons in a box thing that they used to have on the commercials.
