I would love suggestions from the group on a good resort for my family's trip in February. I'm just in the beginning stages of planning, but I don't have a good idea of where to stay. I will be travelling with with my two kids, my daughter is 7 and my son is 4. My husband has decided not to travel with us because he doesn't like the crowds. My parents may meet us there, but I'm not sure. My parents would get their own room where ever we choose to stay. I would love any ideas. My kids are pretty loud, so a resort that is very quiet would not be a good fit for us. We will be driving instead flying, so we will have a car. Also, I think that we will be spending five nights, and we have not set a budget yet. Thanks for the help.

I would look into a family suite at Art of Animation. You could all stay together. Will save you big time!

Without knowing your budget, it's kinda hard to make a suggestion. The resorts have big price differences broken into 3 categories; value, moderate or deluxe. Have you thought about renting points and staying in a 2 bedroom villa with your parents? Or maybe with a good discount booking the villa through Disney. You and your parents could then split the costs and that might be better then the price of getting 2 rooms. And you would have a full kitchen and a washer and dryer.

You might want to consider the cabins at FW. the kids can make as much noise as they want because you are staying in your own individual cabin. There is also a parking space right in front of your cabin so there is no walking from parking lot to room. That is especially helpful if you drive to the parks, at the end of a long day its just a few steps to your cabin door. With your kids being young you may also be spending a lot of time in MK. FW has a short boat ride directly to MK. We found this very helpful. :)

They have general public discounts for Feb.,2013 at WDW. I would make the room reservations before they fill-up. You might click on the resorts section of this site to get an idea of each resort.

Our favorite resort is Wilderness Lodge. A bunk bed room might be of interest to you.

As a mom of a variety of ages, and regardless of how well behaved mine are, being at Disney alone with little ones, figuring which park you'll be at most is going to be key. MK? Go with WL...not my favorite but a bit more family-oriented and you can take bus or boat. EPCOT resorts are, IMHO, are the best for the transportation options yielded and the ease to get to 3 parks.

Hope this helps.

From what you have posted and your children's ages, I would recommend the Value Resorts for you. The giant icons really seem to catch the kids attention. The pools are large and themed to go with whichever of the value resorts you have picked. I also love the food courts - they have lots of variety and are quite large.

I've stayed at all but the All Star Music, but out of the other three I really like the location of the Pop Centry and the theme of the All-Star Movies.

Art of Animation is new and the sister property of the Pop Century. If all 5 of you want to be in the same room this might work for you, but the Suites are almost as expensive as the AKL and more definately more expensive than the moderate resorts. Two rooms at a value would give you more room overall ( 2 baths and 4 beds vs. pull out couches and chairs. )

what type of resort are you looking for - meaning price range (value, mod, or deluxe)?? Also does the pool and food options matter to your family?? and do you want to be near one of the parks?

Once those questions are answered it will be a lot easier for you and your family to choose a resort. :)

Can't go wrong with pop century for your first with kids. It's cheap, it's almost always available, you will still get all of the Disney magic, it won't be a financial hardship for your parents to add a room. Then, after your first trip, you can upgrade to a moderate:)
