Looking for Red Mansion Chair :)

if I had that chair i bet you I would sell it accidentaly... :)

If I had the chair, it would be just like my other chairs. I'd use it in my Falling Chairs game and turn off my trades. LOL I'm not a furniture person but maybe that's because I don't enjoy that part of the game. I enjoy the pin collecting, games and quests.

If I had a red rocker, then honestly I would want to trade it for the best offer I could get if I set up a thread. I'm not into working my way up to get extremely huge items, just so people can be jealous of me; its just not why I play the game.

Sure, I like rare, retired and beta items; but it doesn't mean I would want green flips other than for trading purposes. Lets be honest here, their not even that attractive; the only reason some people want them is because there are not so many of them.

If I got green flips or a red rocker I would trade them for beta/retired/in-park quest that I actually like, and looks nice, not stuff that's ugly. I like the green tea cup, yellow shoe chair etc, and would trade a red rocker or green flips for nice items like those anyday.

Well, the offer I got for my Red Rocker was:

Yellow Ariel
Cyan Ariel
Red Tent
7 Red Crates
Sea Green Cactus

I turned it down because the Red Rocker is worth a lot more than that. If no one wanted to offer what the Red Rocker is worth, then I am perfectly happy to keep the extremely rare Rocker!!

I am curious if anyone even has this item.. even if it is not for trade :) I would heart a picture of me sitting in it :)

theres actually a handfull of red rockers out on VMK if you find the right person. and GroomBoy, that was a good offer they offered you. i would have took it

look at all that red you own :) :drool :  let me know if you EVER decide you want to trade any of that red :)

Ash, if I understand GroomBoy's posts correctly, he turned that offer down and still has the red rocker. Maybe he can be persuaded so you can sit in his chair. ;)

I'll assume that you meant I should have taken it (rather than "would have took it"). Frankly, the Red Rocker is worth way more that what I was offered (remember there are only about 10 of these on vmk). I turned it down because it's not worth it. ;-)

Like I said, if no one ever offers what the Red Rocker is really worth, then I am more than happy to keep my Red Rocker. :-)

you should have taken it that yellow ariel is worth more. There are less because of the quest that gave out red rockers

there are less than 10 yellow ariels in vmk.

lol when did a quest give out the rockers?! and where was I LOL :) anyone at all have one :)

Well, the logic of Darkacre is that the worth of an item is what people are willing to trade for it. I listed what I got offered for mine because I know the value of the Red Rocker to be what it is, yet so many people try to de-value it.

Up until recently people thought there were 5 Orange Organs in vmk as well, but upon further research it turns out that there are 10-15 of them. I know a few people who have the Yellow Ariel (and have even heard of one person who has a few of them, himself). You say the Yellow Ariel is worth more, but yet someone was willing to trade it, plus a lot more, for the Red Rocker...

If you total the number of Beta items offered to me for my Red Rocker in terms of Inferno!, I would estimate the value of that offer to be 4-5 Inferno! Most people think the Red Rocker is worth 1-2, but I get really quick offers of multiple Inferno! for it...

I'm just tired of people trying do de-value an item which is worth so much. When so many people don't even know they exist, and so many others that haven't even seen one, it just seems odd to me that people consider the Red Rocker to be worth so little.

Hmmm, are we trying to discourage me from ever finding or even obtaining one :) I hope not because as I said before... I  red :)

I hear what your saying, and agree. Worth is a moving target.

The fact remains I traded my yellow for two infernos and I witnessed a red rocker go for 1 less than a month ago. So despite worth being a moving target, you need data to make an evaluation. So for matters of discussion until a red rocker trades higher... Yellow Ariel's rules.

The fact that you turned down an offer doesnt make it worth more than the offer.

Ash, it wasnt a quest where everyone recieved it as a prize. It was one of the host created quest, where there would be an inferno or two and a few rare items and beta in it. They stopped when they started having it so you didnt have to go to the hosts room to do the quest but access it from the Q button.

Hey. Any item in VMK, no matter how rare it is, is worth nothing if people are not willing to give anything for it.

Values are different. It's the same with Inferno. There are so many running around VMK, Yet, it is very highly prized by many.
Some are willing to trade almost everything they have for it. Including very rare furniture that they find worthless to them.

It's all in the eye of the beholder. You may think that rocker is worth more. But, if someone is not going to trade away as much as you want for it, then it's obviously worth more to you than to them.

So argue all you want. Maybe someone who has a red rocker might trade it to Ash because to them, it's worthless.

You never know.

I had a kid offer me Inferno just for my black ears. So to him, the ears were worth more than Inferno to him. I turned him down because at the time, I also felt the same way. ;)

Precisely. What the owner thinks it is worth is irrelevent. When people talk about what something is "worth" they mean, for lack of a better phrase in a virtual world, its fair market value. Market value is not determined by what the seller demands. It is determined by what the typical buyer would pay or offer.

I happen to have a vmk card with no code printed on it. It was stuck to another card during the printing process. I might think that it's worth $500, but if no one offers me more than $20, its only worth $20, even though I decide to keep it rather than sell it for $20.

Good example: stitch cards. For a while, people were paying $300 a set for those on ebay. That made them worth $300. Then people tried to sell them for $400. No one bought them. So what were they "worth?" $400 or $300? t sounds like the owners of the red rockers would think they were worth $400.

Incidentally -- and I ask this out of pure curiousity, I have no desire to buy or trade for a red rocker -- how in the world can you research whether there are 3 or 5 or 15 or 300 of any particular item in VMK?

That's just it. No one knows how many there are. They can only speculate by how many they've seen (or not seen) or by what they've heard.

The only ones who could even possibly tell how many are in the game is staff. And they certainly won't tell.

OK, now that we have had our little value issues here does anybody have a red rocker and is actually interested in trading it?? Poor ash hasn't got a single person who has the chair ask her what she has!

And no, we're not trying to discourage you at all, I have seen a few red rockers in VMK and I'm sure you'll get it one day. :goodvibes

Good Luck ash!

Actually, someone on another forum asked this very question to Hula and she answered it. I have researched this by looking at all of the forums and all threads that have to do with Red Rockers. Anyone else with a Red Rocker, who has been here since beta, etc., are also people that I have asked. I also have asked a couple of Hosts and will be asking Yavn when I get the chance. My research has been going on for months, so I'm fairly confident with the answers I have received.

Beyond that, this question has been answered...there are about 10 of them on vmk.
