Looking for Port Canaveral hotel suggestions

We're booking the cruise through our travel agent, but then we're booking hotel and air travel separately. We're probably a special case. Because I book hotels/air travel weekly anyway, I'm just more comfortable doing it on my own. Also, since I'm doing both hotel on points and air travel on miles, both will end up being free for the family. I'm not sure I could coordinate that through DCL/TA?

I assume the cruise regulars have better/more convenient methods.

I always either book with Costco, or book with DCL and transfer the reservation to Costco.

They give the best return on the cruise cost. at 8.5% it really adds up. If your cruise cost is $5000 then you get a Costco cash card when you get back for $475.

I always book our hotel and air as well. You can get the best deal that way and have it set up the way you want it. I cannot imagine booking air with DCL then having them get you booked close to the sail date, with connections, with barbie jets, and not even get seats together. I really dont see any benefit of booking air with DCL. They are not holding the ship if they mess up, they are not waiting for airline delays, etc......

Do yourself a favor and book them all yourself.

we are using Hertz from MCO with a drop off at their Cape Canaveral location, and they advertise a shuttle service. We'll do the reverse on the way back to Orlando after the cruise.

Ive never found Hertz to be anywhere close to the prices of Budget and Avis. Using the codes you can find online, you can get a great deal. I have an Avis for our next cruise $45 for a full size car.

This may be true. I get good rates through a work program so we always go with Hertz. For the week after our cruise, I get an SUV for about $100 cheaper than either Budget or Avis. But obviously everyone should research/compare and pick the best option for their needs!

I don't get daily rates on any of the sites when I put in my dates. It shows me totals (yes, I could do the math...but no need as I'm renting for a week so the total is all that matters). When I ran the side-by-sides yesterday, Hertz was about $100 cheaper for the week on the SUV. Didn't run comparisons on the full size or minivan because I'm getting the SUV (have a minivan and sedan at home - want something different this time around for vacation). I just ran a SUV search on AVIS for the week of my travel. Still comes in $77 higher than what I got through Hertz.
