Looking for Port Canaveral hotel suggestions

Will be flying down on a Sunday in October. Cruise leaves Monday. This is our first cruise. We plan to fly down Sunday morning and then take some sort of transportation (probably car service?) over to the Port Canaveral area. Maybe check out Cape Canaveral Sunday afternoon?

Looking for suggestions on a hotel. I've found plenty online and they all have conflicting reviews recently. I don't need a Ritz, but definitely want something "nice" and clean - preferably within about 15 minutes of the port with decent food/dinner options nearby. Family of 4.

Thanks.

We really liked the Residence Inn for our first cruise. This cruise we will be staying at the Four Points Sheraton and can let you know what that's like in a couple of weeks if your at all curious about that one

We really liked the Counrty Inn & Suites - and my parents have stayed there at least twice since. They will NOT repeat a stay/visit somewhere if there is an issue.

I have enjoyed staying at the Sheraton 4 Points. Close to the beach with many nearby dining options.

On the last cruise I went on, I stayed at the Radisson Resort at the Port. It was nice enough - had free breakfast and I chose the option to park our car at the resort and take their free shuttle to/from the port terminal. We only stayed the one night, so didn't really have a chance to check out everything that hotel had to offer, but I would stay there again.

For our upcoming cruise, my sister and I are staying at the Country Inn & Suites in Cape Canaveral. They have a similar deal to what the Radisson had - ability to park the car at the hotel and use their shuttle service to get to/from the port. I've not stayed there before, but it's been recommended to me on several travel sites and is about the same distance from the port, same amenities, and similar cost. I think it's also a little newer than the Radisson, but I can update later with my overall opinion at the end of the month.

In either case, it's saving us a little on the cost of parking at the port itself. If you're flying into Orlando though, that part isn't going to matter. I do know that you can book the shuttle from either hotel, but they may charge you a small fee per person if you don't choose one of the packages that includes it.

We've stayed at the Residence Inn and the Sheraton Four Points in Cocoa Beach.

We generally opt for the Four Points now - it's a little closer to stores to pick up last minute items and it's more convenient to restaurants. (There's a restaurant, a strangely large surf shop and a Starbucks in the hotel.)

We stayed at the Hilton on the beach. It was nice, the kids had fun playing on the beach. Restaurants on site. That area is kind of run down IMO, and we couldn't find anything else worth doing, so just hung at the hotel.

We stayed at The Residence Inn last time we sailed from Port Canaveral, it was a nice clean room with a small kitchen. Free breakfast in the morning and a shuttle to the port on sail day.

Thanks for the replies! Looks like a few that have been mentioned multiple times. I'll check those out. And I'll look forward to any future replies from those of you who said you are going soon. Appreciate it!

Just got back from our cruise, and we stayed at the Country Inn beforehand. VERY nice and would definitely stay there again. The room was very clean, the staff were friendly, the fitness center and pool areas were clean and well kept, the breakfast had both hot and cold items (wide selections available), and the shuttles to/from the port ran on time and were comfortable. It was also very close to the cruise terminal - maybe a 5 minute ride.

We stayed at the Hampton (not the greatest), and Country Inn and Suites when they opened. We stayed there for several years.

Right across the street is now the Homewood Suites. This is our new favorite hotel. Brand new, more spacious rooms, free breakfast and it is now the closest to the port with a view of the ships.

It was rated #1 in the area.

Thanks for taking the time to post again after your trip! Appreciate it. We have booked the Country Inn & Suites - sounds like it will fit our needs.

And thanks for the info and links Billinaz. If we need a change for whatever reason, those look like good options also.

Did you stay at the Hampton Inn at Cocoa Beach? We were considering it as we prefer Hilton properties (for points) and thought it'd be fun to stay the night before on the ocean. However, if it's dirty, or just generally not nice, we'll forgo it (the actual Hilton is booked). Last time we stayed at the Hampton Inn in Titusville and it was just fine, but thought it'd be fun to be at the beach or near the port instead of off the interstate this time!

another vote for the Residence Inn, very friendly staff. Also nice to have the extra room if you are putting family in one room.

Yes, there is another hotel in the same parking lot. I have stayed at quite a few Hampton Inns, this one seems to need a major update.

a few years ago we stayed at the Wakulla Suites in Cocoa Beach. Reviews here. They are part of the Cocoa Beach: Fly Snooze Cruise program where they will pick you up at MCO and take you to the hotel, then from the hotel to the cruise port and then back to MCO at the end of your cruise (will work with you if only need one way transportation).

I will say it is not the nicest hotel we've stayed at, nor is it the icky-est (we try hard to stay away from those). Benefit: Two bed rooms, living room and small kitchen (if you are staying for a while). There are several restaurants within walking distance. About a half mile walk is the Sandbar Sports Grill - Great fish tacos (and other taco's and food). We saw families there with younger kids, but it is a bar. I honestly don't remember what we did for breakfast (there's a MickeyD's, wafflehouse and starbucks within a few blocks). Or we might have had breakfast on site.

Hi! Can anyone who has stayed at the Residence Inn tell me if they have in room safes please?
Thanks much!

^^^^ ok-my memory may fail me, but I do not believe that they do. I might be wrong. Hopefully someone with all their brain cells will chime in :rotfl2:or check website or give them a call.
