I'd like to hear what you would do.

We originally had a 1br suite booked at AKL for this October. Ariiving on a Thursday evening. DH has a race on Sat. and will be in Clermont all day Friday.

I started having a problem with the thought of staying at AKL for 10 days and not seeing the beach. I just can't go to Florida without going to the beach-DH, I and our kids are beach bums at heart.

We can stay at AKL for 4 nights and then take off for Naples on Monday. Maybe do MGM on Friday, SS/AK on Sat. and MNSSHP on Sunday evening-assuming that is one of the dates.

Stay at RPR at Universal. Looks like a pretty nice resort, we can go to Universal Studios on Friday, pool all day and Luau on Sat. night and rest on Sunday and then take off for the beach on Monday.

We will be in the Orlando area the following April and would need to stay at AKL for 7 nights.

Should we stay at AKL for just 4 nights or just go to Universal this time and stay at AKL next April.

Has anyone stayed at both RPR and AKL?

Thanks in advance.

floridafam,
I have not stayed at RPR. We are WDW goers all the way!!!! Anyway we did stay at the AKL for 16 nights our last trip. We LOVED it. It is just the best themed hotel. However if you are not really into it all and you all really love the beach I would suggest you try the Poly or YC or BC and maybe go over to AKL and check it out and then if yoou like it try it next trip. It is really a great hotel though.

Thanks for the info.

We do love AKL but I don't want to check in there and feel rushed.

We need to stay somewhere in Orlando for at least 4 nights and I just don't think that would be long enough at AKL and maybe I should just postpone AKL until next April.

I have thought about the other resorts but I want a "real" beach. Not that they aren't beaches but I mean something on the ocean or gulf.

I'm having a problem figuring out what to do because we love AKL but I just don't want to use it as a "place to stay" while we are in Orlando for a few nights. I think if we are going to AKL we would want it to be for at least 7 nights.

Thanks again for the info.

I'm sorry I must have misunderstood your post. Well I say go for it. It a heck of a place to just sleep. I mean at least there are a lot of this to keep your kids occupied. If I could only go for a couple of days I would stay at AKL. I would feel like I was getting my moneys worth seeing there is so much to do. We spent 3 days form our trip just at the hotel doing this.
