Looking for opinions on the Hitachi DZBX35A DVD Camcorder

We have been searching for a new camcorder. My husband has done a lot of research and we're leaning toward the Hitachi DZ-BX35A DVD Camcorder. Anybody have any experience or opinions on this camera?

Our budget is around $350. We're looking to use it in several different ways. Mostly for simple recording and playback of family stuff. We're also hoping to learn basic editing so we can make some videos. Third, I don't have a digital camera, so I would like nice quality on still shots.

Any opinions...or suggestions on other cameras...would be great!

As far as the pics go, you are not going to get nice quality pics from a camcorder they're are usually only 1mp.

see the camcorder sticky above and you may think twice about buying a DVD camcorder.

also the picture taking capability of that particular model is no better than a cellphone camera (0.3MP, 640x480)
