I'm thinking about taking the girls (10 & 8) to Minneapolis for a few days over spring break in March, weather permitting. It's been 5 years since we've been there and I'm looking for suggestions on things to do.

1. American Girl store - this is probably a must do, but I'd love to hear reviews of the new store in MOA. We spent about an hour in the Chicago store 2 1/2 years ago and they have talking about going back ever since.

This won't be a "shopping" trip except for the AG store so museums and such are fine.

2. A friend mentioned a new water park near MOA and might be coming with. I haven't googled it yet to get details, but reviews of this would be welcome also!

THANKS!!!!

They have been talking about a water park there for years, so far nothing has come of it. There is hotel down the road that has "Water Park or America" in it.
There is the MN Zoo in Apple Valley, the Science and Childrens Museums in St. Paul, The Como Zoo (which is free) in St. Paul.
As for the American Girl store, I can't really say. My dd was never into dolls. We did walk through it and there was quite a bit to look at. They also have a bistro in it with little high chairs so your dolls can eat there too.
The amusement park inside the MOA has a new theme also, Nickelodeon and has a few new rides in it.

thanks!

I had forgotten the zoo - we enjoyed it last time. My kids have outgrown our little zoo so I let my zoo membership lapse. I may need to re-up just for the reciprocity!

I haven't been in the AG store yet but it isn't all that big, but you still see a lot of AG bags walking around the mall.

What kinds of things to they like to do? Our kids just went to the Brunswick Bowling alley that just opened not farm from us-there is a huge arcade, lazer tag and of course, bowling. That would be a good option if the weather isn't so nice-it is right off 35W not far from the mall.

There is a new exhibit at the Apple Valley Zoo, Grizzly Coast so that is something new to see there. There MIGHT be snow left on Buck Hill so you could ski, snowboard or inner tube if that is something you like.

Take a light rail ride into Downtown Minneapolis and have dinner at a fancy restaurant. Take in a Minnesota Orchestra or St. Paul Chamber Orchestra concert. Maybe there is a good play at the Guthrie or the Children's Theater. The light rail also has a stop at Fort Snelling so if they like Civil War history and the weather is nice, that could be an option too.

The weather is so iffy in March--it could be 80 and it could be 30 so it is hard to give good concrete answers without knowing the weather.
