Looking For iPod Reviews and a Couple Questions

Okay, here is a probably a really dumb question. Does the Ipod Shuffle shuffle the songs all the time? Do you have control over what you want to listen to? DD and I went to the Apple store yesterday. I was all set to get her the Nano for Christmas and then she tells me she doesn't want a Nano because it is to small and she is afraid she will lose it. So, now I'm trying to decide on something else. We saw another one there, but it was almost $350. Obviously, I have no idea what I'm doing!

There was a review of the IPOD shuffle in the Seattle Times some time back. Basically the reviewer said that it had a tendency to play the same 10-20 songs over and over and there were some songs that just never came up. He was very frustrated by it.

As far as the dock goes. If you are buying speakers then you can probably use them to charge the ipod. We have JBL round speakers and the Altec Lansing and both of those charge the ipod.

I've dropped mine (it actually fell out of my pocket) and got locked up.

I went to the Apple store near my home, and they reloaded the software and changed the lock interrupter switch. Now it works fine!

They didn't have my Ipod to switch out (30 G photo) so they fixed it. I'm glad they fixed it because I really didn't want another one.

I personally wouldn't want the shuffle either. I was going to give my son a shuffle for Christmas, but he didn't want any parts of it. He likes the idea of a screen, calendar and the ability to play game on it.

I'm actually going to try to buy him a mini. My apple store sells them on their return/refurb table.

Yes, dont forget about the student discount everyone. If you are a student, k-12 or work for a school district, you are set for a discount. Yes, its a small discount, but its still a discount.

The mini that was in multi colors is no longer being sold. However, my Apple store has them in the refurb/return tables if you ask for them. This table is returned merchandise after it is checked. This refurb/return table usually has cables, pcs, laptops, and Ipods/ipod accesories. Last week when I went in there they had a mini there for sale. The associate told me that minis are coming in for returns because of an promotional tie in in August September. See, you got a free mini if you bought a laptop/desktop computer in August/September. Well, depending on when you bought your PC, you got your mini later. Well, the nanos just came in. Some consumers are trading up there free minis to a nano. So minis do come in returned.--you just have to look.

The apple website and in store at the Apple store has the educational discount.

I don't know if 10% or educational discount is better for you. You would have to do the math to find out. Sometimes for me the refurb/return table is better than educational discount.. it all depends on what you want, what the discount is, and all that.

I have the Bose speakers that I use with my older iPod (15 GB that they no longer make) and I love love love it! It's quite pricey though ($300) but it has amazing sound.
