I'm am planning my family's 3rd visit to DLR. Our last trip was August 2013 and our next trip will be August 2015. In 2013 we went August 11-15. Is it Packed predicted that week to be Hey, it's alright and it actually was ok. Lots of people but manageable.

I was planning on the same week this August but my son who plays high school football just informed me that if he misses that particular week of football practice then he will have to sit the first game (horrors!!! :scared1:) and the week after that school starts.

So my question is, how bad is the first week of August? Isitpacked says that particular week last August was packed. Those of you who go in August, what do you think? No difference? A noticeable difference? I would really appreciate any input. I like to know what to expect, as much as possible, so we can manage our expectations.

And because of other sport issues, June is totally out. We have a July 4th family tradition that we stick with yearly and the rest of July seems scary for 2015 because of the 60th Anniversary. So August is it.

Thanks in advance for any input you feel like sharing :)

Expect the summer of 2015 to be quite crowded with all of the new things coming to the park.

Once May comes... watch out.

It will probably die down a little bit toward the end of August when most kids go back to school.

Just go when it works on your schedule and just make sure you get to the parks when they open. You can get a lot done at both parks by lunch time if you simply do that.

The local kids in so cal go back to school the week of Aug 10. I have also heard that all the summer months and leading into the 2015 holiday season will be packed with all the new 60th anniversary things that are going on and then the 2015 holiday things get going very soon after.

I know it's the 60th anniversary, but I'm a little out of touch otherwise. What new things are coming?

We are very much rope drop people. That is the best way to go in our opinion. I always tell my kids Disneyland is not a sleep in sort of vacation. :)

A new parade is a given, but not sure if there will be a new day or only night parade.

Updates to the Fantasyland attractions

Even if they don't seem that big of a deal.... Locals always will want to see the latest changes no matter how small.

Just try to take a break at noon then come back at night. The busiest times at the park are from 11am-5pm

That is excellent advice. We did that on our last trip and not only do you rest and recharge you miss the hottest, busiest part of the day.

That is also the weekend of D23 Convention, I think. Now most of those crowds will be at the Convention, not the parks, on Fri Sat Sun, so not sure if it would be noticeable.

Oops just noticed you shifted to a week earlier, so that would be good, I think. SoCal APs would be blocked which helps with crowds.
