Looking for information on some items

I really need some help. I have been spending days with my dad trying to clean out his house. My mom passed away at the start of June and he has asked me to help him emptly the house and get things cleaned out. With that being said, I am looking to get the value on some Disney Christmas items. Where would be the best place to get values of these items? I was checking out flea markets to see if that is the avenue to follow??? Anyone have ideas??? I can not find any information on what these are worth for him and where I could sell them. I checked ebay and that does not seem to be the route to go with all the fees. I have to state this " I am not looking to sell these items on the boards, I just need the information. I say that because my earlier posting was removed from the board saying that we do not allow sales on the boards. That is not my motive in any way." I am just looking for information. Please help. Thanks.

I would suggest checking out ebay? Don't know if that will help you at all.

Im so sorry for your loss. Speaking as someone who lost a family member this year, I would suggest not selling anything for at least a year. If your father wants it out of the house, box it up and put it in an off property storage unit. You should never make any drastic decisions after the death of a loved one for the first year. You may sell these off on ebay and next christmas you may kick yourself for not keeping certain items or passing them onto other family or friends who may have wanted them.

Ok off my soap box now, as the previous poster mentioned, ebay is a great place to go to see what things are going for, or a good old fashioned google search.

So sorry for your loss.

I only wish my father had all of the old ornaments I remember as a child.
So many memories.
Dad had a few unannounced Garage sales back in the 90's!

I was going to suggest the Collectors boards, but see that you were edited there.

You can't ask to sell anything here, but info is free.

Maybe post a few pics of what you have, selectively of course, and maybe the info will flow.......

Trust me, someone will have seen some of what you have at sometime.

Once you reach that point, we can help you figure that out!

I'm sure all of us here on the podcast boards would love to see the ornaments!

I just checked on Amazon.com and they have a few books that are price guides for Disney collectibles.

Also, if you have a reputable antiques dealer in your area I would check with them as to getting appraisals on the items.

I was going to post this as well, Corky. Check out Amazon or a local bookstore for Disneyana books. They will give you some good information.

I am very sorry about your loss.

Perhaps if you went on the collectors board and just asked how to find out the value of the items then worked from there. If you can find out where to buy them, then you will know where you sell them.

Thanks for all the info everyone. It has been really tough. I was down there again today going through all the stuff. It is unreal. I will check out the books on amazon and I already did the ebay thing. It is crazy how much they take from you to sell an item. Those fees are really high. I trying so hard to get what ever I can for my dad. Again, thanks to everyone for posting a reply.
