Looking for ideas for S. CA trip

We are DVC members and our kids 9 & 11 would like to go to CA for our next vacation. We'd like to explore the area and maybe head to the Grand Canyon and other areas within a days drive from LA.

Our trip will be approx. 2 weeks so I'd like to try to use some of our DVC points at a Disney hotel there if possible.

Does anyone have ideas that would appeal to a family with 9 & 11 year olds? (One boy, one girl). Obviously we'll do Disneyland but not sure about the rest as its been a long time since we've been to CA.

We just returned from an 18 day family trip to CA. My kids are 14, 9 and 5. We flew to San Francisco and spent 3 days there doing Alcatraz, Fisherman's, Chinatown, Union Square, , Ferr Building, Golden Gate Park, Museum of Science, Exploratorium, and a lot more. Next day we rented a car, and went to Muir Woods and Sausalito, going down to sleep to Monterey. Next day it was Monterey Anquarium and Carmel. Next day we drove on 1 starting at the 17-mile drive, going to Point Lobos and ending in San Luis Obispo, with multiple stops on the way down. Next day it was Solvang, Gainey Vineyards and Santa Barbara, and we arrive to Anaheim around 7:30 pm. Next 3 days were for DL and DCA. On our 3rd day we drove in the evening to San Diego and spent next 3 days there, going to the zoo, Legoland, Coronado, Seaport Village, Downtown, Gaslamp Quarter, the Midway and the Maritime Museum and did shome shopping. Then we drove back to LA and went to Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Griffith Observatory, Universal Studios, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Farmer's Market, The Grove and Santa Monica. WE returned the car at LAX and flex back home. We had a blast and the kids really enjoyed it.
