We will be heading down to Orange County the end of July, beginning of August for a family reunion and my MIL's 90th birthday. The bulk of the reunion/birthday activities will be taking place in the San Juan Capistrano/Dana Point area. We will be going to DLR a couple of days at the beginning and again at the end, with maybe a day or two in between.

I'm looking for a hotel with easy access in either direction, that is preferably less than $100 a night (as we will be staying 11 nights), that is also in a safe area. I am disabled and can't handle stairs.

I'm looking for suggestions on a place that would be comfortable for a lengthy stay without breaking the bank.

Thanks!

I have no specific hotel advice, I just wanted to share that I once did a 4 day school trip to SJC with housing near UC Irvine and had to pay a toll every day on the 73 and it sucked. I'd look for something off the 5 if you'll be going to Anaheim, avoid going towards the coast if you'll be in Dana Point anyway.

I would look to see if there are any Extended Stay America's near where you want to be, but I don't know that they will be less than $100 a night. Summertime in the area is prime time and hotel rates are rather high.

If you want to stay in Anaheim, check out the Motel 6 Maingate. It may be close to your price range.
