Okay,

I'm looking for ideas for a present for our best friend and God Father to our daughter and male mentor to both our kids.

As I am a girl and have kids I have no idea about life outside of Hannah Montana and Legos right now, I'm looking for ideas.

I realize that it's not easy to do when you don't know the person but thought it might help to get a guy's perspective. Uncle A is 40 single (got very burnt by last BF and swears to stay single forever). He owns a house (2 doors down from us). We have already got him a gift card for Lowe's (for the butch handyman in him) and a gift card for a local Liquor/Wine Store (for the fine wine guy in him). We were going to get him tickets for the local lacrosse team (to play to his fun loving side) but found out they are now defunct (shows how much we pay attention to these things).

Any thoughts guys?
I have thought about the Ohmaha Steak thing after reading MM's post.

Thank you.

Omaha Steaks is a great way to go.

Does he attend theatre? Is there a local Professional Theatre company in your area? A lot of theatre companies these days are offering gift pack options that are flexible and can be used for the shows he might want to see instead of locking him into specific performances.

If all else fails, movie gift cards are always a great gift in our circle. (Just don't buy Cinemark Cinemas gift cards. They're not ranked as a gay friendly company by HRC).

We frequently give a $50 restaurant gift card and a $25 movie gift card to my parents or my sister and her husband so they can have a "night out on us".

Not a guy, but we just bought my father a battery operated wine opener and he LOVES it! :thumbsup2

He does security for the local Broadway Theatre Leauge so I thought he might not want that but... I don't know why I didn't think of the movies. He loves movies. That's a good one. Also, thanks for the Head's Up on Cinemark. When I was at my previous employer we had a gay network group and I played closer attention to the HRC rankings, I need to get back to that.

We like AMC right now as they co-sponsor, with Autism Society of America, sensory friendly movies for kids on the Autism Spectrum once a month.

Thanks

My dad called last night and said they used it and he loves it too. Guess we're going to have to get one as well! ;)

Didn't know there was such a thing. If we don't get it for him for Christmas, we'll keep it in mind for the future.

He also watched the cat while we were on vacation and shoveled our driveway so I didn't have to do it when we got home from SC yesterday. So even though he doesn't think so, we feel we owe him big time. He also played Santa by putting the kids' presents under the tree and filling their stockings while we were gone. So, my 6 yo who had just proclaimed he didn't believe in Santa anymore, is now a believer again.

my point being, keep the ideas coming as we need to get him more stuff over the next few months (or lifetime)

I like the restaurants.com idea. I wouldn't go with the Omaha Steaks - I have never liked any of their steaks - not great quality at all.
