Hi everyone. I just got through reading all the bad reviews for Ohana on another thread. I know that even 2 people from the same group can have differing opinons on the same thing. So now I am asking for reviews from people who have had a good experience at Ohana recently. We are going in May and are trying to make up our minds about where we are going to eat. No complaints on here please. I have read them already.

If DD7 could choose only one restaurant per trip it would be 'Ohana. She'd pick it over princesses and other characters hands down. She loves the coconut races, the limbo, and the wings.

I love the friendly service we always receive, the salad (I am not a big salad person, and theirs is mostly lettuce, but the dressing is really tasty), the wings, and the dessert (I don't like bread pudding, theirs is the ONLY bread pudding I'll eat). The noodles and wontons are okay. I don't eat the veggies. The meat on sticks is hit and miss. Sometimes it's great and sometimes it's overcooked. No problem really, because they happily bring more. I have never felt rushed, or felt discouraged from asking for more of anything. I thoroughly enjoy the atmosphere, the music, and the view of the castle.

We make sure to eat at 'Ohana every trip. :thumbsup2

Ummmm, uhhhh..something positive...ummm... The motif is very tropical!

Seriously, its not a bad place. I think that expectations are so high, just like Le Cellier, that anything short of magnificent will be complained about. I enjoyed the meal and the atmosphere. 1/2 of my meal is enjoyable because of the company I am with! And I am starting to end all of my sentences with prepositions..and not care!

I ate there last week in the same time frame as the other poster you are referring to.
We had a 5pm reservation and were seated quite quickly considering the restaurant just opened. We were seated at the window looking out at Cinderella's Castle and it was positiveley beautiful.
We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the entertainment, we got leis from our waitress without asking or anything. Our waitress was wonderful, and the assistant was on the ball clearing food (always asking if we were done first) and bringing refills of whatever we wanted. Our drinks were never empty and considering we were a group of two we werent sat at a small table.

The food...
we weren't in the mood for salad so never tried it
The bread our seater grabbed on the way to our table and it was soooooooo good I almost didnt share good if you know what I mean. It was hot, sweet and soft.
The pot stickers were great I enjoyed the sauce on thema lot.
The chicken wings my fiance loved, I don't like chicken wings so I didnt try them but they looked good.
The brocolli was pretty standard but it was nice to put something healthy in my mouth considering alot of the junk I'd been eating
The Noodles we LOVED LOVED LOVED they were hot with a nice sweet flavour its the only thing we got seconds on aside from drinks it was soooooooo good!
For the sauces we liked the peanut and sweet and sour one , we arent into spicy so.

The meats
shrimp: Im anaphalctic so neither of us partaked in that
steak: I like it a bit more well done and they happily found me a piece the bbq flavour was nice
the chicken with sweet and sour sauce SOOOOOOOOOOOO good!
the pork I didnt try but dfi loveddddddd it with the peanut sauce.

Dessert...
I could tear up thinking about how wonderful it was. Best dessert ever (okay maybe 2nd to raglan roads bread and butter pudding but still MMMMmmmmmmmm)

We plan to eat here on our honeymoon in a heart beat!

You will find that every restaurant tends to have the "this was great!" and "this is terrible!" comments. And what people experience now may not be what you'd experience in May.

My advice is try it out for yourselves and form your own opinion. The biggest problem I think WDW has is consistency. Some restaurants have it; others don't. And chefs do transfer from place to place, so an "amazing" chef might be somewhere else in 6 months.

'Ohana is grilled meats and sides/starters. Pretty basic stuff, and I've never felt the food was awful. Service can be spotty, but that's the nature of the turnaround sometimes. I was able to ask for medium rare beef if the skewers brought around were too well done for me.

We were at Ohana on Sept 17th and had a wonderful experience, great service, hot food, kids had fun with the coconut bowling and songs etc.
I really think an early dinner ressie is the key, we were there at 5:30 and everything was clean and hot etc. :) I have been around 8-9ish and had it not as nice.
Overall it is one of our favorites that we do every trip :) Enjoy!

We ate at Ohana in July and it was fabulous. We have eaten there every time we have gone to Disney and have never had a bad experience. The food and atmosphere has been wonderful. Can't wait to go back.

We were just there this past week and I was a little hesitant because of all the negative reviews I had read on here. But I am happy to tell you we LOVED it. We had a 5:00 reservation and arrived about 5 minutes late but were seated very quickly. They did bring out all of the food pretty quickly which I know some people complain about but I actually liked that I could pick and choose and eat things the way I wanted instead of feeling like "okay I have to finish my salad before I can move on the the wings" you know? The food was all very good. I did find the chicken to be a little dry but it wasn't bad. My husband said it was the best food he had ever had.

My kids loved all the activities and I was also pleased to find that they offered quite a few choices for the kids that weren't on the actual menu (my kids are TERRIBLY picky). I think they waiter offered them grilled cheese, mac n cheese, burgers, fries, pb&j, burgers, hot dogs....it was a long list.

I would definitely say try it for yourself. I am sure glad we did!

I say try it for yourself. You won't always agree with everyone's tastes. Look at the menu and the atmosphere and if its appealing to you - try it.

We always have a fun time there and enjoy the food as well - our opinion.

We ate at O'Hana about a month ago and all I can say is the food was so good that I ate myself SICK! I have never left a place feeling so full that I thought I was going to throw up. I ate and ate and ate and ate and ate! Yummy!

The positive........

The dessert can't be beat anywhere on WDW property in my opinion.

I love being that close to MK. The food is very good, when I make sure to tell the waiter I like med/rare beef.
So that is a major plus, the food. It is good.

And for us, those things out weigh the "bad" we have experienced.

We loved it!! :goodvibes

The atmosphere is beautiful, the music is fun, the food was certainly one of the best meals we had all trip (May 2010). This resort served us well when it came to food this last trip, we ate at Kona's and Ohana's and I was very pleased with both places.

I have to agree with a pp about the times. I would try and get an ADR from 5:30-7:30, othere wise you'll be there pretty late (unless this place is dead-which it won't be). We were on the later side with our ADR and got in about an hour and half after our ADR (most of it was our fault because we were late-monorail hang up), and I think you start to see the staff wearing down at this point. We still had wonderful service, but you can tell they are ready to go home.

The food, the food, what can you say about it that hasn't already been said....I love just about everything really, I think there was one meat that wasn't all that great and I think it was the pork, but you just cover it up with a sauce that you love (peanut-my favorite!!) and problem solved! :lovestruc

The dessert was amazing!! And I don't typically like breaded pudding, but covering it up with carmel sauce and ice cream....how can you go wrong!

We stuffed ourselves silly here and the family said it was their favorite meal of the whole trip. I will certainly come back here again and again. :goodvibes

We really like Ohana's too and our kids really enjoy it. The dinner is fun and entertaining for the kids. We always start our first night at Disney with Ohana's. We don't really like the pork, but that's it. The rest of the food is good. We really like the noodles a lot. I don't like anything banana, but loved the banana bread pudding. It's great! I think that everything is hit or miss at Disney, especially during free dining. I think that you just have to go and try it for yourself and decide whether you want to do it or not. Some many people have different tastes on this board that you have to do something at least once to figure out for yourself whether it's worth it or not.

We were just there on Sept.22 and LOVED it!

I loved the whole atmosphere as well as the food. The dessert was so yummy I'm drooling just thinking about! Delicious!

The kids opted not to eat the family style meal and ordered off the kids menu. They had a never ending supply of grilled cheese, french fries & hotdogs. I think my 8 year old and 2 grilled cheese sandwiches (triple deckers even!) a hotdog and fries.

If your looking for a quiet, peaceful meal this is NOT the place for you :rotfl:

The kids enjoyed the coconut races :)

We tried 'Ohana 5 years ago on a recommendation of a co-worker and it has become an important part of our annual trip to WDW. The only complaint I have is that I can never find the room to eat as much as I would like.:rotfl2:

We LOVE Ohana. Potstickers YUMMMM. I am not a wings girl, but DH loved them. The grilled meat was FAB! It was DH's one must do for our upcoming trip.

Our last experience there was so good we spent every day looking for a opening for our Nov. trip. Luckily we finally got one and can't wait. It was by far our favorite place from last year. It was our first time there too.

And the bread pudding is enough for me to go there. I dont care how stuffed I am from the food, I have to have the bread pudding. It's heaven on a plate!

We ate dinner there on Sept 25th and also on Oct 2nd. Both times we had a great meal with great service. No complaints at all! We were seated within 10 minutes of arriving. The meal was not rushed but the servers were on their toes. The food was delicious! My only disappointment is we didn't get to eat dinner there a 3rd time on this trip. LOL

I can be encouraging. We ate there about 2 weeks ago. We had never tried Ohana before and were a little unsure like you but I figure that a place that is that popular and hard to get into must be good.

The salad was probably the best thing I ate. I loved the dressing. The noodles were yummy. I did not enjoy the broccoli and refused to waste any stomach space on it. I really liked the potstickers and DH said the chicken wings were some of the best he has ever had. As for the meat, I did find the chicken almost too dry to eat. I wasn't into the flavor of the pork, but DH liked it. I really liked the shrimp but they are not easy to peel. The steak was the best meat we had. And of course the bread pudding was very yummy. My only caution is to not eat too much because it is a great temptation.

We were there 9/17-9/23 and absolutely LOVED eating at 'Ohana. The food was amazing (the chicken was a bit dry but the dipping sauces are there for a reason...)!! I could eat those potstickers and noodles all day long. And the bread pudding? Forget about it.

DH recently wrote about it in our trip report if you want to take a look.
