I was wondering if there were any good deals on dvd players for the car. I dont care if its handheld, or one that hooks to the headrest. We had a dual set and it is shot. They dont seem to last that long, so I was looking to see if anyone has found one that does last. We have a 9 hour car ride coming up next week...thanks

I would check Walmart. I just purchased a portable, handheld Philips DVD Player last month for like $59...works great and comes with the charger for the car. I also could have sworn I saw the dual set for the car for not much more than the single.

Thanks...how has it held up?...wait, I just re-read your post and it says you just got it....duh!

I did just get ours but I bought based on a friend's referral who bought hers back in September. She's got three boys under 12 who are, well let's just say, typical boys and are not exactly "gentle" with their belongings. They go skiing pretty much every weekend up north (about a 3 HR drive each way) and theirs has been holding up pretty well.

You know the stock resource ? On EBay most of their car DVD players are from justcardvd.com , my bro got one directly there, very cheap.......

We have 2 of the Philips $59 ones and one has held up now for 4 years, the other for 2 years. We just strap them to the headrests and plug them into the auxillary power plug. I actually prefer having two separate ones over the dual screen because that way my big kids can watch one thing and the little guy can watch something else. We got a headphone splitter for about $5 at target and it works out great. For $59 each, I'd say we've gotten our money's worth out of them.

We bought the Philips 2 screen set up from Target on Black Friday a few years ago. I think we paid $79. It still works great.

We also have the Phillips dual set from Target Black Friday 2012. We haven't had it long, but so far it's been great! We also have a Sony handheld that we've had for 5 years that still works great. Can't remember how much we paid for it.

Whichever you go for, i highly suggest getting the extended warranty. I've never had a DVD system for the car that lasted a year. At least with the extended warranty, you'll get your money back when it fails. :thumbsup2

Luckily the kids are old enough to hold things now, so i just preload some movies onto the ipods and kindle, and we are good to go! Then all i need before a trip is headphones.

We also have a Phillips dual screen - bought it in 2010, and have only used it to and from Florida. We've had no issues with it.
