Looking For Good Food ni DHS

I'd do Woody's BBQ but have heard it's not air conditioned, so it's not on the list of possibilities!

You may know or meant this already, but just to clarify - the Woody's Lunchbox spot is outdoor and not air conditioned. The Roundup Rodeo BBQ is an indoor restaurant with AC. Just wanted to make sure not to confuse anyone because you added 'BBQ' and 'Woody's' together

I should have mentioned that HBD is already a given as I plan to go for the fantasmic pkg there.
So it's looking like ABC, Sci Fi Dine in (I know someone said the food is regular, but does it taste good?) and maybe 50s - can I ask them to forgo the "service"? With my autism I'm afraid I might have an issue differentiating between play rude and actual rude.
Opinions vary on Sci Fi. We eat there every trip for burgers, onion rings and milkshakes. I usually don't recommend it to people only because so many others seem to dislike it. Maybe we don't have high standards but we think the food is good. It isn't fancy and we don't order anything "strange," just the basic cheeseburgers. Seating is two per row in the cars, so it isn't great for conversation among larger groups. The lighting is dim and although there are the sci fi clips playing on the big screen, this restaurant always feels like a true break to us. It's dark, cool, and we don't have to talk much lol.

My adult child with autism did not enjoy 50s Prime Time, at all. The play rude came across as actual rude.

Looking for a good place to have food while inside dhs - qs and ts both options, any recommendations? If it makes a difference 2 disney adults, l.ove characters - but don;t watch dis jr.
50s prime time diner for TS, ABC Commissary has great food for QS (use mobile order to avoid lines for ordering)

we just got back and these were both great hits for us

I would skip 50sPT given your preferences.

I happen to think Sci Fi is "just fine". It's not awesome, but I've never strayed from the basics, and it's never been bad. In summer (or close to it) I would opt for the sit-down meal over a counter service one because you get more time sitting in AC, and Sci Fi won't be that much more expensive.

So my wife for the first time ever, has made a trip decision. She wants to go to Hollywood and Vine for lunch. Should I talk her out of it? Because I'm leaning towards giving in - since she almost never does this,

It's a perfectly fine buffet, and the character costumes are usually seasonally-approrpiate and at least a little unique. Lunch and dinner are classic Disney characters; breakfast is the Disney Jr. gang until mid-October-ish.

We really enjoyed HBD. Would definitely go there again. We’ve not tried the lounge for a meal, but heard lots of good things about it.

We also liked woody’s bbq and docking bay 7.

Went to Sci-fi last year and it was gross… the burgers, the drinks and the dessert. We did like it the first time we went about 20 years ago, but now- just nope.
The atmosphere was cool though.

Maybe watch some DFB flog blog videos for ideas. Lots of ideas there.

No, neither DD nor I liked our food at SciFi. The burger had a funny flavor to it (she only at half of her burger), and the chicken salad was basic (so no grapes or nuts or anything) and just meh. I make better chicken salad at home. We also thought the onion rings were really greasy. The atmosphere is relaxing as it's dark-ish and cool, but we won't go again. Just didn't like the food.

We always struggle to find decent food at DHS. Backlot Express used to be good but we haven't been there in maybe 5 years. We like 50s Prime Time- food has always been good, even if it's a little "much" for a mid-day meal. We enjoyed Mama Melrose, but that's no longer an option. Next trip we are going to try Hollywood Brown Derby. I've never been thrilled by the menu but it's something new. I'd do Woody's BBQ but have heard it's not air conditioned, so it's not on the list of possibilities! Regardless of characters, we'd try Hollywood&Vine BUT have heard that it's chaotic and also messy. I guess too many little kids trying to serve themselves? I don't know. The "food court" over by Beauty and the Beast is just meh, also. We tried Docking Bay 7 one time but it was packed, and hard to find seating, but the food was decent so we'd give it another shot on another trip. As I said... we struggle to find good food at DHS and frequently just snack thru the day, do an early supper somewhere else (like Disney Springs), and go back to DHS for Fantasmic.
We also are not fans of Sci Fi but love 50’s PTC and Hollywood Brown Derby.

You seem super familiar, although I readily admit I read much more than I post. Have you not been to WDW before? Are you a DL west-coast person? Or a DCL person? My bad that I can't remember. In any case, I hope you have a good time and I'm impressed that you're so on top of all the questions and info over a year out!

We used to go every year when we lived in Ky - then we moved to AZ and it's been about a decade. Yeah, first I love planning - and B if I'm spending this much money I'm doing my homework. =)

You have Woody's BBQ mixed up with Woody's Lunchbox. The BBQ is a sit-down restaurant with air conditioning, the Lunchbox is Quick Serve with outside seating.

My Brown Derby experience was.....not amazing.

I ordered a cheese plate. All the cheese was cold. (that's not how you serve cheese, folks!)

I ordered a cobb salad. it was also cold. Yeah, it's a salad, but it was excessively cold.

I got the impression both of my dishes were made at, like, 8:00am and were sitting in a freezer until serving time.

Not the quality I was expecting for the price and because it's DHS' only "signature" restaurant.

I am going to WDW in a few days and I made a reservation to go back. But I think I'll cancel. Don't want to be disappointed again.
