Looking for feedback

I put together a one page website that I am hoping will be helpful for people who want to rent points but don't know where to start. I wonder if there is anyone willing to take a look and offer me feedback on it?

Is there anything missing that I should have included? Did I mess anything up?

Renting points can be intimidating when you're not familiar with DVC. I am hoping to make it a little simpler for folks. What do you think? Here's the link: http://www.squidoo.com/WDWResortsforLess/

Thanks - Barrie

I think that you should add some information for people looking to rent points from a member that explains the risk of the transaction from both sides, and why a member will probably require non-refundable deposits or payment in full a couple of months prior to the trip.

Also, a caveat that renters really need to lock in to their reservation dates, resort location and villa size. Changing it could cause them to lose money if they wait too long, or depending on the member from whom they rent.

I'm sure that you will get plenty of feedback about this, positive and otherwise. :)

Very nice job , looked profesional. You have gotten a few good tips already. Just like to let you know the link to the " other " rental site doesn't work with the /default if you remove everything after the .com it works . Also do all rooms have patios/balcony's ? I didn't think they all did.

Good job on the site though :sunny:

Granny - Good ideas. I'll add in a section about that.

Boston5602 - I'll double check on the balconies/patios. I fixed the bad link.

Thanks to all of you. I'm surprised I haven't heard from more people. This board is usually so lively about giving advice - and I mean that in a totally good way! Barrie

You should have titled the thread "BCV: My Own Private Hell On Earth".

We don't plan on ever renting, so I did ignore the thread, until I noticed that rinkwide responded, and I just had to see what he said. It was worth the click :teeth:

I think that renting is risky, and with additions to your site of the sort that Granny suggests, your site would be improved.

The only thing I think I would change is the cost per point thing.

It mentions in one place how much you will save at $10/point. And later it shows 8-12 per point.

I don't think I would put that $8, just me personally though. I think you might get some that will come in and think that they can get $8/point and well, you know how that goes.

I think I would show examples using 11-12 per point and if the renter can get 10 or less than that is a bouns. I just think it sets up expectations of being able to get points lower than most want them to go for.

Your information is very thorough. I think you covered all the points that any prospective renter will need.

Good point cobbler - I think you're right, not much is going for $8 per point. It does happen sometimes but I think I will bump it up a bit.

VrBchJ - Welcome to the DIS! Funny thread for your first post, I honored! Barrie

It is a beautiful site. I would love some $8.00 points, myself. I think that needs to be removed. I won't rent for $10.00. there are to many people that won't even transfer for less than that.

I am one who at this time has no intentions of renting my points (never enough ;) ) but I have had points transferred to my account twice. I also did not reply after reading it first time - I now have it in my favorites.

I liked it. Very informative.

Looks nice. You might want to mention that the 3 bedroom grand villas have substantially more living and dining space than the 1- and 2-bedrooms. To me, the way you have it phrased now makes a grand villa seem like it's just another bedroom tacked onto a 2-bedroom.

Thank you all for taking time to look and offer me suggestions. I have not had a chance to incorporate them yet. My dog has been very sick this past week (3 emergency surgeries in 4 days) and I haven't been up to doing much online. But I did want to let you know that I appreciate your feedback and will be updating the site when I can. Thanks again - Barrie

Cancer just took our Lab and I am very sorry to hear about your dog. I know what you mean about not getting to the Internet. I became the caregiver. I hope all comes out well.
