Hi!:) Here's the scoop. My Dad is joining us for his first ever Disney trip! We are flying in on the Friday of Feb. vacation and checking in at VWL for 2 nights. We are not doing the meal plan those 2 nights. Then We are doing 4 night cruise and then returning to WDW at BCV for 5 days during which we will do the dining plan. My crew have our favorite places to eat but want to show my parent's the best time and accomodate their appetites. The real problem is that my Dad can not tolerate chicken or too much bread since his gastric bypass several years ago. He has trouble with lettuce at times which makes salads risky. So, many counter service places will be tough. My Dad does enjoy fish, soups, small pieces of pasta, and tender meats in small amts. Our first day we have an early flight so hope to be checked in by noontime. We know crowds won't be great but we have decided to head over to MK to hit a couple rides and see parade and fireworks. So any suggestions on dining that day? :goodvibes Here's the rest of our plans just in case anyone has any helpful advice/comments. Thank you everyone!!!

Many of the nicer table service restaurants have fish on their menu for your dad but given your other choices, I believe you are just going to restaurants you like. Let the restaurant know his dietary needs and they will try to accommodate as best they can. Most of the yummy soups I can think of at WDW are cream based and I'm not sure that is the best for your dad (maybe Mexico has a tortilla tomato-based soup???). And if small portions are the key, that can be done anywhere - just eat less.

Thank you! I definately admit Raglan's and Cape May are two of our favorites. Ohana is a must do for my husband but, also for my Mom (who has gone with us before) and my sister's family who will be joining us that part of the trip. We have had my Dad review the menus of the places already chosen and he has found items at each he may eat. I am nervous about Ohana though (maybe the noodles and not sure about the shrimp?). The problem is mostly going to be the QS meals I think. He says he could eat some of a hamburger out of the bread. But alternatives would be great. I am trying to fill the meals with "????s" with more Dad friendly options. He has pointed out to me that salmon seems to be on every menu and that his only fear is he'll be eating that all week:sick:.

Also, sorry-portion size is not my father's only concern. He has acquired a swallowing dysfunction related to both esophageal issues related to scar tissue from his surgery and difficulties with chewing. As a result he does better with easy to chew/non gummy solids. :)

for MK counter service go to columbia harbour house, Epcot counter service shouldn't be too hard; lots of options at sunshine seasons and in the world showcase. AK- yak and yeti has counter service but doesn't get great reviews, he could get ribs at flame tree bbq. HS- hmm studio catering grilled veggie sandwich hold the bread or toy story pizza planet's caprese salad.

Sorry I just reread your post and realized you already have most of your conter service meals set, and already picked a few of the ones I was suggesting. For your first MK day how about going to one of the monorail resorts for lunch before heading in? I love Grand Floridian Cafe's menu and you can even walk there.

Marinated sirloin steak, Asian BBQ pork loin

could he eat these at ohana? They have mac and cheese available for kids, not that it would be that tasty an alternative. I'm sure if you speak with the chef they will find him something!
