Without knowing the details of the contract, it sounds like there should have been some contingency plan in place for the design and sale of some merchandise to signify this event, which I will be attending as I did at DAP in '09.
I am sure a significant amount of planning occurred to set-up and coordinate this event and the cash flow generated from this event will probably be noteworthy for the park. To that end, I am sure it has been a point of frustration for the team, but I would not belabor the issue, but certainly this situation may be a "lessons-learned" to consider before selecting any future venues.
