Thanks for posting it. That's the same recipe I have. On the plus side, it has vegetable oil instead of a solid shortening which is a little less unhealthy.
These days, they're the same. Soybean oil vs hydrogenated soybean and palm oil. 99% of "vegetable oils" are nothing but soybean oil. Canola and Corn Oil and blends are always labelled differently.
Actually, the shortening has less calories and fat than all of them because of the volume of air in the serving size (lard splits the difference...but is all saturated fat and introduces cholesterol, no one can seem to decide if food cholesterol is bad or not).
I do not like overly sweet cornbread, but I don't begrudge others theirs. It's one of those great foods that has so many regional/cultural/personal variations.
