Looking for Control Freaks & Worry Warts - Part 4!!!

Good luck with your packing, Pam! Just make a list and do your "runs" this weekend! If we ever go often enough, I'd love to have that owner's locker. Just put a few things in a carry on and go!:thumbsup2

have fun pam. I think I have a solution for my CSR no room trouble. I am going to change to POR and go with alligator Bayou and ask for a room with a trundle. This should alliviate the trouble with the girls sleeping together.

who has stayed there???Kara has any of your upgrade mojo gotten you there?

Hi Laura,

We stayed at POR this past April for a couple of days. The grounds are lovely, the boat ride to DTD is so relaxing, the food court is great.....my daughter's favorite meal in all of Disney World is the turkey dinner she gets there! We stayed in the Magnolia Bend section so I can't say we had any experience with the trundle bed. I have read from quite a few people that they are very small and a small child would fit best on them. Not sure how old your girls are. :) The only thing I didn't like there was what I call my "Anaconda Experience". I was standing on the sidewalk in front of our room and the biggest black snake I have ever seen came slithering out of the bushes in front of me. I almost passed out. :scared1: Now I know Florida is full of snakes and they are bound to be at DW, I just don't want to see them when I am there! I couldn't get my card in that slot on the door fast enough. My MIL and DD looked at me like I was nuts when I busted in that door hopping around and yelling...not to mention my sister was wondering what in the world was happening on the other end of the phone. I lasted at POR 2 days before we moved to Yacht Club where I saw nothing but bunnies and ducks. :) I know it sounds stupid, but if it hadn't been for that snake I would have stayed at POR as it is a lovely resort. Hope you have a great vacation!!

okay thinking of something crazy....what if I got the AP and the TIW instead of getting the dinning plan. The AP is $486 or something like that and that is $200 or more so than we would pay for a normal pass. I'm looking at the dinning that we want to do and I am thinking that lunch would be more of a QS than a TS. TIW is a 20% and costs $75. With food and wine going on we may want to munch. Help..Kara???

Hi Lisa! My DH is in the military too. I loved that discount last year! We had DVC for our stay, but a free 5 day for Jim and $99 for me was great! I hope you get a good code!

Hi Tammie!
My hubby retired in 1997 from the Marine Corps, thank goodness lots of places extend those wonderful discounts to retirees too. I almost considered renting a condo in Orlando thru Armed Forces Vacation Club but I can't bring myself to stay off property. I enjoy being as immersed in Disney as I can be. Also, I'm afraid what I see on the internet is not what I will get, especially after reading some of the reviews. We did rent a condo in Williamsburg,Va at Powhatan Plantation a couple of years ago for Jamestown's 400th anniversary. You couldn't beat $299 for 8 days/7nights for 6 of us and we really enjoyed it there. That was in 2007...the year Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip were there. The very day she was in town and going to be at Colonial Williamsburg we were scheduled to go to Mount Vernon to meet a family member we had not seen in 10 years. I loved seeing my uncle again...but was crushed I missed the Queen!!! Oh well, one day I'll get to the other side of the pond before I'm too old to enjoy it.:)

Lisa...who is hoping to get a ticker on here soon!

Hello and welcome! Funny story about the snake - I live in FL so I'm actually getting used to them. But about a year ago while staying at YC, we had a lizard in our bathtub!!!!

I lvoe the TIW card more than DDP. Plus, you can use it at AK at Flame Tree. That's the only cs I know that takes it. Andof course it's good for apps, dessert, and ALCOHOL!!!! I truly believe it is equal to or less than the DDP, depending how many TS meals you do. And if you do a lot of character meals, which are cheaper than Le Cellier or some of those restaurants, the TIW card comes out CHEAPER than the ddp.

Thanks, Laura. This sounds like a great idea. I hope that you don't find an alligator in your tub! (Kara's lizard story) I just noticed your pre-trip report! Need to check it out....

Thanks, Tammie! I think I did all of my errands this weekend! Whoo, hoo!

I feel much more organized for this trip than I have in the past. It's because I am taking off work the day before we leave, and no one else in my family is off that day. My only trip errand is to drop off our dog at the boarding place in the late afternoon. Since Darrin and the girls don't have off on Wed, they are going to be completely packed and ready Tues night, and I am going to be right there w/them. So, Wed I am going to get a massage, my hair done and a pedicure! I hate to get pedicures when I am going to keep my feet in Crocs the entire trip, but they are so relaxing!

I made our iron on name tag shirts last night. They turned out cute. I won't post pics until I get back. The tie dye Mickey shirts only turned out so-so. I used a cotton/poly blend t-shirt instead of 100% cotton. Uggh. We will still wear them. I'll be wearing a couple of the same Disney shirts I've worn on our other trips, and of course I'll be wearing my Edward shirt on November 20 (the day New Moon comes out!).

I need to have the "What time are we leaving for the airport, and what time do you want to get up?" discussion w/Darrin tonight. Please think of me. It might get very ugly. Our flight leaves at 7:30am. It will take us 10 mins to get to the park and ride, another 10 to the airport, and I want to get to the airport an hour 1/2 before departure. That means leaving by 5:45am. He will want to leave at 6:30am. Like 45 mins is worth fighting over.:confused3 Is it worth risking missing our flight? (I always win this one, but it isn't pretty. He won't recover until we land in Orlando.)

Have a great day, all!:grouphug:

hey everyone....been MIA on here ;)

Anyways, I just had to say we had DD's 1 month check up today, and our ped is going to Disney in January. I guess they were going to go in Sept. but held off as she was going to be 30 weeks preggo at the time. I'm so jealous.

I tried to tell DH that I might take advantage of the give a day get a day campaign for next year, and take DS for a quickie 2 night trip, and he nearly flipped out! Apparently it came down to he didn't want me to go to Disney without him. :lmao: For someone who pretends he doesn't care, he got awful worked up over me even THINKING of going without him! I thought it'd be great...take DS down right before his 3rd birthday, I get a free ticket, so no cost there, rooms are usually cheaper in Oct. and airfare probably would be the worst part of the whole thing.

Oh well! Anyways....see ya'll on the flip side. Time to feed the baby! :)

Have you ever tried Shades of Green? We love it! We would stay there every time, but we have DVC now. It's around $100 a night depending on your status or rank and it operates like "on-property." You can walk across the street to the Poly and eat at Kona, catch the monorail.... Nice rooms and Bigger than any on property.

Hi Tammie,

We did stay at SOG in Sept. of 2008. We had reservations at the Poly and were so excited about going to Disney we left a couple of days early, as is usually the case with us. :) We thought we'd try SOG since it was right next door and you're right, the room rates are good. I thought they were plenty big enough for the 5 of us on that trip and the kids enjoyed it there. I think the Poly has spoiled us though. ;) Also, SOG had to move us to a new room twice the first night we were there as the air conditioning was not working properly in either one. That didn't sit well with my husband so he won't go back. I know that can happen anywhere though. Saratoga Springs is my sister's home resort and they stayed in the Treehouse Villa's this summer and she said the masterbedroom stayed so hot she couldn't sleep well the entire trip. What is your favorite DVC resort?

AND.....I did book a room yesterday at the Poly using a 40% off pincode. Feb. 7-12, 2010. Woo Hoo!!

Lisa.....81 days and counting!!

Hi Kara!

Oh, I hate lizards as much as I hate snakes! I'd have had a cow if I saw a lizard in my tub! There is just something about all creepy, crawly, slithery, beady-eyed things that make my skin crawl. I guess there's no telling what can get in a room, especially when you open the sliding glass doors on the ground floor. So far, I've only had a mama mallard try to get into our room. I'll take a duck any day over a reptile!

Lisa...who is counting the days.

Shelly - That's funny about your DH! Can't believe that you already had your 1 mo checkup! Time flies!

Pam! If I get too busy to come back and say goodbye this week - HAVE A GREAT TIME! :cool1:

Thanks, Tammie!

Well, we had a packing party last night! Darrin and the girls don't have off today (but did I tell you that I do?! Hee, hee! :lmao:), and they wanted to get their packing done last night. Well, I did too, along w/all of the family stuff that I pack, and I am completely packed! There are a couple of last minute things to throw in, and of course those couple of things that I thought of that I need to get from Walmart today, but other than that, ALL PACKED. I have never been this ready for a trip before the night before we leave, at least not post kids. It could have something to do w/me taking off today, and the fact that this is the first year that Taylor 12 has packed completely all by herself. I peeked in her suitcase after she went to bed to make sure she had all of her bases covered, and she did great.

You girls may zap me (esp those who got onto me about the fanny pack), but I am wearing tennies, and bringing one pair of Crocs to wear the entire trip. Yep. Same color every day - khaki. Last trip, I wore my tennies in the park the first day, Crocs the second, then never wanted to wear the tennies the rest of the trip. The Crocs are so comfortable to me.

Darrin shocked me. When I proposed that we leave at 5:45 for our 7:30 flight, he countered with - why don't we leave at 5:30? I almost fell over. After over 20 years....This is the first trip that we have not had the argument about what time we will leave for the airport.:upsidedow

Hiya Pam -

I'm another crocs fan - wore them every day for our last trip, comfy comfy comfy over style any day!

Have a great trip....

Tessa

i too wore mine every day. I think this next trip I will bring two pairs. I did wear my tennis shoes one day and sandals the next but my feet hurt after those. Oh love my crocs.

Pam- I go between my Crocs and my Teva Mushes they are great and so comfortable. Cammie actually suggested them and I LOVE them.

I am so glad you get to go soon. Horray for you :thumbsup2 Mike and I never fight about leaving for the airport he names a time and we go. We just fight about what to pack LOL:rolleyes1

Welcome to our newbies!!!!

Well it looks like i am probably the only person on here that doesn't wear crocs hahhaha .. my feet are just the wrong shape, it's crazy, i have long narrow feet and long toes and i just cannot wear them, Chloe struggles too in fact the only pair she has got on with were the ones she had this summer just gone

Lisa .. exciting for you after booking your trip, we will be there at the same time, i cannot wait, 10 weeks saturday we go!!

Pam .. Just jumped onto say have an absolutely amazing time .. i cannot wait to see pics either on here or facebook, take care, safe flight and have a great time :yay:

Whoo Hoo! for 81 days! We have only stayed at SSR - I make the ressies at 11 mo. out, then try to switch at 7 mo, but so far it hasn't worked out yet. We tried WVL and BWV with a no go! We stayed at AKL on points for a few nights - LOVED that resort - just not the food choices. I imagine AKLV would be my fav if I got to stay there! :thumbsup2 I really want to try BCV now after seeing what a nice walk it is to Epcot! What is your favorite?

Yay for leaving early Pam! Double Yay for being packed!

Here's your happy dance:

:cool1::banana::woohoo::yay::dance3::cheer2::jumping1::dancer:

Have a great time!!! And I wear my crocs every day, too. The one day I wore tennies, my feet hurt. The first year, I wore pink MH crocs every day. Last time I got some brown MH Mary Janes so I could match the colors better. Khaki goes with everything, right?

Okay, bye - have a great trip! :wave2:
