Our countdown has reached 16 days and we are making our restaurant ADR plans. There are lots of choices under consideration and I would appreciate comments regarding Whispering Canyon for breakfast, is this a fun way to start a day at Magic Kingdom. I would also like comments and suggestions regarding California Grill. I am having a difficult time deciding if we really want to eat that fancy. We are DW, DS (9), DDS (twins 6) and me. Thanks.

We ALWAYS eat dinner at Wisp Can at least once per trip. A must with kids. We are not big breakfast eaters. If you can swing a dinner there I'd say do it!!!

Have fun.

we ate there one trip with our 4 kids. We really enjoyed the food, and the kids enjoyed the "entertainment". We haven't eaten dinner there, but the breakfast was good and there were plenty of choices to choose from. Have fun!

Just wanted to clarify--Whispering Canyon isn't at the MK...the way your post is worded it seems to imply that you think it is.

California Grill is an upscale "fine dining " experience. It's not really a meat and potatos place, so I think a lot depends on two things. First, will you enjoy the cuisine? Next, are your kids used to eating in a fine dining experience, or is the extent of their eating out experience Bennigans and Chucky Cheese? If the latter is the case, then IMHO trying fine dining after a long day in the parks is not appropriate. It's not fair to your kids or other patrons. Many kids simply can't handle sitting still and talking quietly for an average two hour meal after a full day.

If you are thinking about eating there for the fireworks, at 16 days out you are probably too late to get a reservation at that time. And in all honesty, the fireworks are much better from inside the MK. There's no guarantee of getting a fireworks view table either.

And as an FYI, there is a requested dress code of business casual for the CG--it sounds like you plan on being "Park Commando's" so this might not work for you.

WCC is great we loved it. Our kids are DS8 & DD5 & I don't know if I would take them to CG, I have seen lots of well behaved children there & my kids love the Hollywood Brown Derby. It is just that my kids enjoy places like WCC, Chef Mickeys, Crystal Palace, Sci-Fi, Rainforest, etc.,

CG took a long time to complete a meal. We were there over two hours, and had our adrs 60 days out to make sure we saw the fireworks. Our 4 year old DGD is very well behaved and was fine, but we needed to keep her occupied with some quiet coloring games. The food was excellent, but was definitely not steak house fare. My family cringed until they tried it. I think you should check out the menus and decide if you would enjoy the food.

the menu at CG is very "kid friendly" ... the flatbread is good and i know they will bring out pasta noodles ...the best idea is to check out the menu and see if your children would enjoy the selection

the atmosphere is more adult (and can get pretty expensive) - i wouldn't consider this a "fun" restaurant...certainly one to try at some point!

have you been to boma? even tho it is a buffet, the selection is great and it is so much fun to walk around the animal kingdom lodge after dinner - the firepit is lit (there is one inside and outside) and there are always animals you can see from the back deck (there are guides outside with binoculars and they will answer questions about the animals) ...we think it is the best buffet on site

good luck and have a great trip!
