We are heading down in Oct. (towards the end). My son doesn't like the dress-like ponchos (he is 4), but, would rather have more of a coat-like poncho. Would love any feedback on the ones you have/had and if you like/liked them. Tia

I bought 3 for my kids and niece from Wal-Mart and I have been very happy with them.

We stayed in the FW Cabins in Nov. 07 -- you will love them - are you renting a golf cart, you may want to consider this if not. The cabins are great - I wish we were staying there again, but, we are trying to go on a budget this year :rotfl:. We are staying at the POP. Hope you have a great trip!!

Just wanted to add that the coat type jackets could be hotter than the ponchos and more bulky to carry.

We got a coat style one at Walmart too. However, we haven't used it yet because I always end up using the Coleman ones at Target. (They are only a buck so we use them and toss them...although they are technically reusable...they are a PAIN to refold!...not very "green" of me...I know)

REI and other Sporting Good/Outdoors stores tend to sell light weight compact rain jackets. I bought my daughter and myself each one and they fold/ball up into little bags, they were about $25 each. I have to admit I LOVE mine and am wearing it now during our rainy season. So I feel good about the investment b/c now I have a lightweight coat that I wear all of the time and it was not something just for WDW. We also got matching coats--Bright Red.

We have some cool coat-like raincoats that are not even lined...good for summer heat. We got them a few years back at the Totes store. I don't know if you have one by you, but they have lots of cool gear like that. Some fold up really nicely into a little pocket that you throw in a bag. Our Totes store is located in one of those Factory Outlet Strip malls. It might be worth checking to see if you have one near you, or maybe they sell online too.

Good luck!

We have had good luck with LLBean and their Discovery Rain Jacket. It has a mesh liner that is cool and doesn't let the coat stick to you. It was less than 30 dollars and had 4-5 colors to choose from.

My kids were never comfortable in a poncho as toddlers / preschoolers and honestly still don't like them much.

We just got inexpensive vinyl raincoats from target/wallmart etc. sometimes even with Disney characters on them! They folded up almost as small as a poncho and fit into a quart size ziplock.

Those and a rain cover for the stroller were a lifesaver.
