Looking for Cap'n Jack reviews

We went this past March. It was good, nothing too special though. There was a good selection of food on the menu, and the desserts were really good. We were seated on the side of the restaurant, the back probably has much better views of the water and of Saratoga. Kind of a small place, I thought it would have been bigger. It is probably one of the better choices in DTD to eat. Sorry no food porn!

We have gone to disney 20 plus times and this is the one horrible meal we had. Dh couldn't even cut thru his steak and the crab cakes tasted frozen... Wouldn't suggest it...

Avoid it like the plague.

Try T-Rex for children; or Paradisio 37, the new place. My friends just got back and they loved both.

T-Rex is similar interactive as Rainforest Cafe, but the food is a bit less and better quality.

Paradisio 37 is South American food and apparently very good.

another no vote! i ordered a shrimp salad and had 4 shrimp! and it was lunch and the cost was over 20$. avoid it:yay:

Thanks to all of you! After more digging and reading what you have all said so far, I've discovered that there is a reason no one is on here singing it's praises! I think it's past it's prime and apparently needs a makeover.

Too bad!

Helpful question though as this is the only restaurant at DtD that is on the dining plan?

Actually there is also Raglan Road, Planet Hollywood and Wolfgang Puck for TS.

I have 2 very picky 8 year old boys and a more adventurous eating 13 year old girl. I didn't see anything she'd like on the RR menu. I've heard mixed reviews for PH. And WP's children's menu doesn't have anything that one of my twins would eat (yeah, he's weird like that).

I guess I'll look into PH a little more. Or maybe we just won't eat at DTD that night! Oh the joys of trying to please everyone! I have until Friday to figure it out!

Thanks. I can't stomach PH at Disney, the idea for us is to go to unique restaurants when we're there. Same with WP. I'll check RR and maybe risk it at Capt Jacks anyway. We're staying at POFQ and have never been to DtD, so we want to give dinner there a shot. The UG gave Capt Jack's an average rating, not unlike most restaurants at DW, and said it was a nice setting.

years ago i said i had spent my last dollar at PH and have never been back! what about wolfgang puck express? not the sit-down. we have enjoyed WPE many times. just something to consider.:yay:

My kids and I like WPE. They like the Pizza and the wife likes the Pasta. As for me, I like what ever is good.

Arr me matey! pirate: I'd rather walk the plank than eat at Captain Jacks again! If I were stranded on a desserted island with only rotten coconuts and seaweed I could cook a better meal:rotfl2:

and if you have food porn ~ even better!!! ::yes::

TIA! :goodvibes
We ate at Capn Jacks in 2006. I was very disappointed. I have a dairy allergy and they told me that they were too small to be able to make the food that had dairy in it differently for me. So if you have food issues this is not a place to go.

I thought the menu at RR looked good.... there is a sirloin that I'd love to try. It's just that my DD can't order off the children's menu anymore and although she isn't picky, I just didn't see anything that she would normally order. Good luck!!!

Aw, sorry you had such a rotten experience at PH. It's not the first time I've heard that comment! That is why I am leary.

We are looking to use TS credits so WPE wouldn't work for this particular meal. But thank you for the suggestion. :goodvibes

We may have to try that sometime! Do you know if they would let you "customize" your pizza? One of my sons doesn't eat cheese. (I know! :sad2:)

So you didn't really like Cap'n Jacks, eh? :rotfl2:

Wow... too small to accommodate a paying customer. Shouldn't that be *exactly* the kind of place that could?!? :confused3

Anyhoo... thanks everyone! They'll be no Cap'n Jacks for this crew!

Ok....I used to like it when it was Chef Mickey's back in the 70's or 80's... LOL

I'm dating myself, aren't I? :lmao:

Chef Mickey WAS the old Village Restaurant, true, but Capt Jack's has been open since the late seventies.

In fact, this bit of history makes its mediocrity more disappointing: we deserve better from that location.

I have no input. Just SO EXCITED to be on here and see you Nicole!!!! I actually have a cousin who loved it there, but that was a couple of years ago.

i thought CM was on the paddle boat years ago......:yay:
. . . the boat was The Empress Lily
. . . the meal was "The Empress Lily Character Breaskfast"
