I was reminiscing lately about the trips our family took to Disneyland in the late 60's, early 70's and was trying to remember the name of the campground our family stayed at. Can anyone help me out?
It wasn't close enough to walk to Disneyland, but we could still see the fireworks. We parked our tent trailer next to the pool. The campground had many orange trees and also mobile homes where people lived full time.00737_s_13ajkm8gjm0736.jpeg

Maybe Orangeland on Struck Ave?

There are a couple of RV parks near Disneyland. One just closed permanently in September after a claimed 64 years in business.

Another one says its been open for more than 30 years, but I don't think it was around in the 70s. If it was one that closed a while ago, that's going to be tough researching defunct RV parks.

There was a large one that had some permanent residents that closed in 2007. It was called Traveler's World, and it was at 333 W. Ball; part of what is now the Harbor CM parking lot.
That one was on the other side of the freeway, catty-corner to the NE of Disneyland. Do you remember crossing the freeway on your way to the park?

Probably the best source to help you is the Anaheim Public Library; it has a local history center.

There were a couple of campgrounds where the current Mickey and Friends parking structure currently is. I think one was a KOA and the other was a semi-permanent one where snowbirds would come and stay. They closed it down in the late nineties, and I remember how upset people were because they had been living there for many years. It might have been called Disney’s Vacationland.

You also might want to try asking for information on the Disneyland Community Board. Someone there might have some answers for you.

I remember being a kid and driving past one in the area that the Mickey and Friends parking structure would be. Had no clue it existed as we never seemed to drive on that side of the resort. That was in the mid 90s.

Thanks everyone. It wasn't walking distance as far as I know because I remember driving to the park. It could possibly be Traveler's World because there were definitely permanent residents there. I haven't been able to find any pics though of that campground.
