I am trying to plan a girls trip for a group of 8 (ish) friends and their kids, total of roughly 18-20 people. We are mostly located in WV and Tennessee, and would like to meet somewhere in the middle, or somewhere in WV. So far we have been looking at Fayetteville,WV, Summersville, WV, Asheville, NC. I haven't found many options on VRBO. Does anyone have a location suggestion, preferably on a lake or other body of water, that would accommodate this many people comfortably, in WV, TN, or KY- between Charleston, WV and Nashville, TN? I know that's pretty specific, but I am drawing a blank. I sorta offered to plan this one, it's our 2nd trip, and I am overwhelmed at narrowing down a location. Thanks in advance! :goodvibes

I Know NOTHING about this area, but I looked at google maps and saw a big lake called DOUGLAS LAKE in TN. A little more googling, and I see a cabin that sleeps 16 for $425 a night, and it looks pretty nice to me. Like I said, I don't actually know ANYTHING about this area, but this might be a start.

Located in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, Douglas Lake was created to aid in flood control and to provide an additional power sources with its hydroelectric systems now in place. Filled by both the Nolichuky River and the French Broad, Douglas lake offers a great escape back to nature. With over 30,000 acres, Douglas Lake boasts more than 500 miles of shoreline, creating endless opportunities to experience the water, as you would like. Fisherman, swimmers, boaters, and families will enjoy picnicking on the waterfront while splashing around and keeping cool! Douglas Lake can accommodate nearly every size boat class."

it looks worth checking out.

I was in the planning stages for a family reunion, and I found that the prices were significantly less expensive in North Georgia mountain area, than say Asheville.

What about camping? You can rent sites right on the water, set up tents in a big half-circle and visit and play all day and night! :thumbsup2
