We are leaving for our trip next Wed. :yay::yay: I am looking for ideas of books for the plane. I liked the twilght series..has anyone read any of the other vampire type books? Have you enjoyed them? I like Dean Koonz, King, Patricia cornwell, etc. I can't seem to decide on a good book to take.

Thanks for any ideas!

This is HeyIt'sMe's DD ~~~

I have read the Twilight books a 1,000,000 times over and some other vampire books I have enjoyed are:

Thirst 1 and 2 by Christopher Pike (5/5 stars) :worship:
Vampire Academy (meh)

Also you can't go wrong with some non-vampire books like:
Dear John by Nicholas Sparks
The Lovely Bones
Harry Potter (all books are great)
Tale of Two Cities

I hope you end up finding a good book for the plane and I strongly recomend Thirst 1 and 2. They're thick books but they are worth it.:)

Patricia Briggs-mercedes Thompson series is outstanding. There is only 5 in the series and the last 2 made hardback and are top listed on Amazon.

While I didn't like the Twilight books, I do like many supernatural sorts of books. Have you read Interview with a Vampire by Anne Rice? Other books written for a younger audience, like Twilight, that I enjoyed are the House of Night books by PC & Kristin Cast and the Immortal Instrument books (City of Bones, City of Ashes, City of Glass) by Cassandra Clare.

I just read Wicked Lovely and The Third Kiss: Dorian's Dream. If you have a kindle, Wicked Lovely is a free download and Third Kiss is only a $1. I also like Kresley Cole's Hunger Like No Other.

If you are into vampire books, go read the books that started our recent fascination! Anne Rice - Interview with The Vampire, Queen of the Damned...I am not into horror movies or books, but I loved her books.

I highly recommend Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse series. I'm not really into vampire books but she got me hooked. (In fact, Dead and Gone just arrived today from Amazon...)

I love anything by Jennifer Crusie. She does romances, but they are funny and have real storylines to them; she also does action/romance books with Bob Meyer that are also hilarious.

Have you read the Kingdom Keepers series? (Ridley Pearson -there are 3 so far.) They are really written for a younger audience but they are fun to read when you are traveling to WDW - you look at everything a bit differently once you've read the books!

Thanks everyone...I have some books to look into.. I love Anne Rice...I have read almost everything that she has written. I recently read the first book the the Maximun Ride series by James Patterson...it was also a good read...I'm trying to find out which order tha books go in so I can read the next. Everyone has great suggestions!

I second that! I'm reading the latest one at the moment. I'd also suggest Kim Harrison's books. She has a set about a witch who lives with a vampire and they are very good.

I HIGHLY recommend The Hunger Games. Very engrossing. The second book in the series is Catching Fire. The third book Mockingjay comes out I believe this summer. Everyone I've gotten to read them LOVED them and can't wait for the third book.

They are published by Scholastic but I promise, they are great for adults!

I loved, loved, loved Mercedes Thompson. But these books are not really vampire - they're werewolf. There is also a pre-quel to this series called "Homecoming" which is like a "comic book" in that it's illustrated and has the same bubble dialog - they call it a graphic novel though. It's interesting but not essential for understanding the rest of the series.

Also great by Patricia Briggs is her Alpha-Omega series. The series has three parts out so far. The first book is a short story in an anthology called On the Prowl - If you don't read this the whole series misses the mark but if you read it - it's amazing. The next book is Cry Wolf, then Hunting Ground. A little more romance-y than the Mercedes Thompson but really really good.

Another series I've loved is J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood. The first few novels are very definitely vampire romances, but later novels in the series move into the sci-fi urban adventure genre.
