Ok so my husband Tom wants to refinish the floors on the second floor this spring. He has offered me a trip with the kids to use up DVC points and get us out of the house. The second floor has the only bathroom and all the bedrooms. I am not so-called afraid to take them to Disney. BUT I am nervous about taking them on a plane alone for the first time (We usually drive) and what do you do about having 3 people when most rides are for 2? Advice from other moms or dad who have taken two kids would be great! Mike is going to be 15 and Abby will be 12. I know they are teens but I am soo used to relying on my husband for help and fastpasses and well just about everything! LOL I sound a bit crazed dont I?? I even considered leaving my son with him and jut taking my daughter isnt that equally crazy?
Thanks in advance, please help me find my sanity!:littleangel:

Your son is 15, he can help you. You will be surprised at how much fun you will have and you will be fine. You can handle this

I completely agree with your DH. Trying to get floors done with people in the house will just drive. him. crazy. I'd say go!

Go. If your 15 yo doesn't have a cell phone, get him one for the trip (even a basic pre-paid plan phone). Make him your Fastpass volunteer. It'll give him a chance to show off his ability to handle some "independence". I think you'll have a great time!

You'll be fine. The kids shouldn't need any help on the plane, nor in the parks. But, I'm planning to take a 7, 4, and 2 year old by myself this summer, so maybe my opinions are skewed.

LOL ok noone here knows my 15 yr old, he is the child who loses everything!!! I would go crazy, he would get lost and lose the fastpasses and OMG Id want to put him on a plane back home! LOL

soonerplan2008, You are my hero, I knew I sounded crazy stressing about my teens I cant imagine taking younder kids!! Good Luck.

I'm taking my DD5 and my DS9 this summer for a 2 week vacation alone. I do hear you about the ride thing- I'm a little concerned about some of the rides us getting split up- but my oldest is a trouper and doesn't mind to go alone- or I have to:) It's very doable. You know your kiddos best and know their limits.

Have a great time and don't stress!!!!!

Does your DS want to go? If not leave him home and take your DD. My DD (12) and I have gone alone the past 2 years and had a blast! First time, DH took DS on a special trip we didn't want to do, so we did Disney. Last year, I had booked a BB offer and we went again. So, no I don't think it's crazy to take one and not the other. My DS (16) has NO desire to go to WDW with me. If his friends were going, then he'd love to go.

Your kids are old enough to give their opinion of how they would want to handle the rides. Would either one be willing to ride alone? Will they ride together? I'd get their input and plan from there.

If you think your DS would loose the FP...then you can be the runner, or modify how you go about your plans, maybe all of you go to get the FP, then ride something else nearby. You can't do it all, so let each child pick their top 3 things they "must" do, and be sure you get them done. Everything after that is a bonus. This is how DD and I plan.

No matter how it works out....you will be fine. Just be sure to make some plans of what they want to do and be sure to include what you want to see/do.:thumbsup2
