My DH and I are having some problems with our 5th wheel TV, and I'm hoping someone can straighten us out. When we do not have cable hook-up in a campground, the bedroom TV will not pick up digital stations. We've tried two different TVs in the bedroom, and neither will work. Is it possible we need a antenna booster? Any other ideas on what our problem could be? TIA! :happytv:

Well it could be a couple of things.

--Is the TV digital signal capable? Pretty much any modern Flat panel TV should be able to handle the digital signal. Older TVs needed the converter box.
--Did you program your TV? Make sure it set to Antenna in the menu functions first. Then have the TV scan for channels which is usually found in the same menu.
--Do you have an Antenna capable of handling the HD signal? Chances are you have a Winegard antenna. There was an add on component that allows your TV to receive the signal cleaner.

I hope this helps a bit.

I think we may be onto something with your 3rd suggestion! What is a Wineguard antenna?
Usually this is the TV (brand) antenna that comes with your camper. You roll it up and down with a handle inside.

I did some more research on an related issue it could also be the co ax cable lead to the antenna itself as one owner found out. He also did a review on the HD addon to the Antenna for UHF service.

Thank you for all of the suggestions...I really appreciate it! We're going for a short camping trip in a couple of weeks, so we'll look into all of those possible issues. I hope we get it resolved - It's been a battle ever since we bought this camper!

You said it was the bedroom TV that couldn't get over the air signals. Can you get digital over the air TV in a different room? If it works in the main living area, the antenna is probably fine. I'd look for issues with the coax going to the bedroom. It may just be wired to the 'shore cable' connection and not to the roof antenna. If you antenna has a wall plate with a switch for the booster (nearly all RV antennas have this), make sure the light is on. I have satellite in my camper and I have had to hook up a switch to get satellite signal or antenna to the other TV connections. (Bedroom, bunk room and outside). I found a bad coax cable and connector going to my front bedroom when I bought the trailer. Apparently the Amish aren't good at finishing out coax connections.

If the camper is older (pre digital), the splitter may not handle digital properly. I found that in our 2000 MH.

Well, we're at a campground without cable, and the tv is working fine this time! Hopefully it was just user error and we won't have any more troubles with it. Thanks again for all of your advice!
