Hi All! We are quickly approaching making ADR's for our disney honeymoon that will be the week leading up to the Fourth of July (June 26-July 3rd). My birthday also falls within this week and I'm looking for a nicer meal for that. I am hoping to get a little bit of feedback since I have not been to some of the restaurants and also, if you think my plan is feasible. We are two twenty somethings that are usually willing to try something once, but we are not super exotic in our dining choices, and definitely no on the Sushi front. We also aren't HUGE on buffets - so we try to keep that to a minimum. We are currently booked at POR but hoping to move our res to the Beach Club and we have the dining plan (I know I have more meals than credits) and park hoppers (and we use them. A lot.). I normally go in a much lower crowd (Labor Day Weekend) So I'm a little nervous about how the 4th of July crowd will effect our dining! So here's our plan so far:

Sunday June 26 (arrival around 9:30 to MCO): QS Dinner at either Boatwrights or Epcot
June 27: Sunshine Seasons for (early) lunch/ Mama Melrose Fantastic Package dinner
June 28: Flame Tree BBQ Lunch / Kona Dinner (This is one I absolutely cannot change - my fiance has not stopped talking about it since our last trip) - not sure how Rivers of Light will effect my plans for the AK day, but I can't miss Kona.
June 29: Epcot QS Lunch/ Garden Grill Dinner
June 30: CHH Lunch/ Cali Grill (debating on times, would like to coincide with fireworks, but we normally eat earlier here at home - this would also be my birthday dinner)
July 1: Water Park QS Lunch / Somewhere at Downtown Disney (will be spending the day at a water park and hoping to go to see La Nouba that night)
July 2: Sunshine Seasons Lunch / Via Napoli Dinner
July 3 (Very late departure --- 9:30pm flight) : Kona Breakfast

Other restaurants I considered were Boma, Biergarten, Cape May Dinner, Le Cellier, and Ohana (I have not been since the menu changes)...
Any feedback? Suggestions?

We are doing California Grill for the first time this coming January. We were only able to get an early dinner time, but I don't know if you knew this (I didn't :-), but you can show your receipt and go back up to watch the Fireworks later in the evening, so if you want to eat early for dinner, that is totally doable. We absolutely love Boma for breakfast. I know you said you aren't huge on buffets, but this one has such a great variety and mix of foods, that it is something we love to do every trip. Plus it is nice afterwards to walk around AK Lodge and check out the animals. I'm not a huge O'Hana fan but that is just me. The last time we went we had to wait 45 minutes past our reservation time before getting seated, so it kind of turned me off. Have a great trip!!

Based on your list you're not breakfast people :P and thats fine! My wife and I like doing breakfasts as they can be less expensive and they get us started and fueled up for our day of touring.

Aside from that you have some really nice selections. Sunshine Seasons is a fine QS location......we've had several good, nicely priced lunches there. Flame Tree BBQ is a personal favorite! The food is great and the view can be fantastic (although our last visit the view was mostly construction ..........but the ribs were awesome!). We just had a our first dinner at Via Napoli a few weeks ago and enjoyed it. We ordered a pizza for both my wife and I. One suggestion is make sure if you order a full pizza, can you can finish it. They're big :-).

The best choice on your list is California Grill. The atmosphere is amazing............the food is wonderful (if expensive.......but everyone knows that going in). If you like sushi Cali Grill is the best, so I'm told..........(not a fan of sushi. :crazy2:) The fireworks are a must do IMHO! You do need to make your reservation for after 7:30pm to actually see them while eating........but I tell you.............its worth it! One last thing...........make sure you have backups for the your ADR's (Cali Grill and Via Napoli especially). Your going during a busy time...........so reservations could be difficult to get and/or you may have to compromise on timing..............just think about it...........and have a plan :D

In my opinion..........you've got a good list. I wouldn't add to it (well maybe switch out an early lunch for a breakfast at Cape May Cafe........with Minnie & Goofy!). The one thing you don't want to do is overwhelm your vacation with sitting in restaurants when you should be touring.............right? :D (hey but that's me..................)

Have a great honeymoon and wonderful birthday!

Doug :goofy:

Based on your list you're not breakfast people
- I am definitely a breakfast person normally, but - we are rope droppers and that doesn't really leave a lot of time for us to sit down and enjoy some breakfast. My fiance could do without a huge breakfast as he's one of those "I can't eat until noon" people.... Hence why I saved the breakfast for our last day. Get in our last drops of Disney but not have to be up at the crack of dawn. I appreciate the feedback - hopefully I can remain flexible - but I REALLY want an ADR to cali grill :) (Via Napoli is more or less for my fiance! )
I'm not a huge O'Hana fan but that is just me.
- That's good to hear- I haven't been in a few years, which in disney years is a long time. I think the last time I went was around 2013....and I know a lot has changed (and maybe not for the better) - I appreciate the feedback!

It's just a little thing, but Boatwrights is TS, not CS.

You might want to consider doing Kona on your water park day, and trying out Tiffin, the new signature that will be opening at AK ( or perhaps an AKL restaurant) on your AK day. Otherwise you would have to leave AK early, have an early dinner, and then return to AK for ROL and possibly the evening safari. But that is A LOT of time just travelling to and from the Poly.

Wishes will be at 10:00, so any ADR around 8:00 would see you finishing your meal just before the fireworks.

Sunday might be a good point to push the Kona dinner to as well. If Epcot is already an option, monorail to the TTC isn't horrible.
