Looking for a very cheap waterproof camera

I was going to wait for the Kodak, but I recently read a trip report of someone using a fuji on their crusie and there pictures were VERY good. She has one model older than the xp10. O also palyed with one at the store the other day and was pretty impressed with it. So I did some more looking again last night. I got the fuji xp 10, with a 4 G card and the assessorie kit (including a float strap) for under $130 on amazon. It was a little more than what I wanted to spend, but I just don't want to wait for the kodak. It isn't released till March 18th. I'm not sure how fast it will be in stores, and I would want to play with it for sure before buying it. And that would make it come down to the wire for our trip. So I decided what the hay and got the fuji.
Now for those that have the fuji...do you mind posting some of you water pictures?

I used the Fuji XP10 in November for regular photos(great!), and my daughter has used it underwater several times. I'll have to see if I can't get some of those photos off of her computer to post. A warning: This weekend she used it in the dive well at the pool--14 ft. Don't go down that far! It has a depth limit and it means it. A little water got in the lens compartment, but all is well. We put it in a container of Damp Rid (love that stuff--it has saved many an electronic that has been accidentally submerged at our house. Something that happens often with swimmers;)) and all is working great!

Last year I bought disposable waterproof cameras for a cruise at Bed Bath & Beyond in their travel sized product section for $1.64 each! There wasn't a sign or anything and I had no idea they would be that cheap. They were Kodak too. I don't know if it was a clearance thing or what but check out your Bed Bath & Beyond to see if they still have them.

Yes, if you can find some of those pictures, it would be great. I don't plan to go that deep. I don't plan to go barely under water. :rotfl: But I just want to be able to get it wet and not worry, along with popping our heads under with it a few times. I should be getting it today.

Some Target stores are clearancing out the Olympus Tough 3000 models in red. I go the display model for $43 :cool1: It cost me almost that much to buy a second battery and a stand alone charger, but I didn't NEED to buy those. We are planning to take it to Disney so we can take pictures on the water rides and if it is raining.

It was fun to take pictures of our aquarium fish from inside the tank.

So getting ready to buy my waterproof camera...how are you liking the Fuji?

I like it so far. It took nice pictures on our trip. (still going through what I took yet). Iwould say that it is great for outdoor shots, but not the best at indoor ones. But for my use outside and in the water it took excellent shots.

Here's one

I bought the Fuji Finepix for around $115.00 during Christmas. So far it takes great indoor shots. I have been using it for my foodblog. I plan on using it for the Dolphin Encounter in October. So far I have dropped it (it's shockproof) and I have gotten it wet but not fully submerged it yet. I am going to test it this summer. Before that I had a Kodak Easyshare and loved the pictures that one took but alas it's not waterproof. You can see examples of indoor pics here. http://tinkmomfoodie-foodobsession.blogspot.com/ I have also shot video with it and it seems to work pretty well but does make a loud noise when it zooms.

I found a digital that takes both stills and video at Aldi. It was about $50 and does a nice job. Not a great one but nice.

It uses a waterproof case good to about 100 feet and can be used with or without the case.

This would be nice for our beach vacation this June. Can you tell me the exact model? I bought a GPS this week on clearance at Target from $120 for $35:cool1: They have some great clearance items when you get lucky and find them :)

So I have been reading the reviews for the kodak since its out now and its not very good!!
Think Im getting the Fuji!!

Love the video :) And when can I come over for dinner? :)

I've got the Fuji too. Loved it for my last trip. Took it to Typhoon Lagoon my first day and when I was getting into a tube in the lazy river it got fully submerged (up until then it had really only been splashed) and this poor woman in another tube FREAKED OUT lol. She was just like "OMG your camera just went underwater, it's RUINED now, omg that's horrible!!" and so on, and then I told her it was waterproof and she calmed down lol. It was a perfectly fine camera though, not SLR quality shots by any means, but definitely at the nice end of point and shoot. I got mine for around $115 too, so I was especially happy with it. Planning to take it to a couple baseball games this week since it looks like one might be a rainout (I'm going with friends, taking the camera for photos of us mostly).
