We just got back from Disney/US-IOA 1 week ago. We stayed in one's of Windsor Hills townhouses, we had a great time and we loved the house:lovestruc .

Now, I'm looking for something similar but closer to home for this summer. Looking for maybe Wilwood N-J, or Ocean City in Maryland. Could even go to Virginia Beach or North Carolina. But would love to have a rental home at a reasonable price...

Any suggestions???

If you have children Ocean City might be the better place. We always rent a condo at Cape May, NJ. You can try virbo.com for rentals.

Thanks! I checked it out, and oh boy:scared1: its expensive to go there:eek: It was less expensive for 12 days in a rental home in Kissimmee than 7 days in Cape May:rolleyes1

Don't think I want to spend 2000$ for a week to go at the beach 11 hrs from home.........could go on a cruise with the same amount:rolleyes1

Thanks again, I'll keep looking:goodvibes

I think you're going to find that any home or condo on or near the beach in the summer months are at premium rates.

We stay in Portsmouth, New Hampshire every summer near Rye beach but in a hotel. Even smallest dump on the beach goes for a minimum of $3,000 a week.

The NJ shore prices have gone over the top. I can't believe it myself but we love Cape May and have been going there for yrs. The only break we get is not paying air fare. The Fl Gulf coast is reasonable during the summer. It's hot but you have a pool and the gulf to keep cool. We like Fort Myers beach area.:goodvibes :goodvibes

When I was a kid we used to always go the Outer Banks in NC and rent a house. We'd go mid-Aug as most schools in the south were already in session. So the rental rates were lower and we usually had the beach to ourselves until the weekend when the locals came out.

Do you have to have the ocean. I would suggest heading up to Sauble Beach, the beach is just as nice as the ocean. We went to Cape Cod in 2007 and then to Sauble a couple of weeks after and I kept thinking it was just as nice if not nicer at Sauble Beach. I hear Grand Haven which is on Lake Michigan is just as nice sand wise and the town is larger.

I've heard a lot of good thing about this place too!

But this place is about 18 hours from home.....Would love to find something closer:rolleyes1

I suggest Cape Cod. We did an entire week there two summers ago for $1500 US total (food, lodging, transportation, activities) and we stayed right on the beach.

I wrote a trip report in my blog (link below).

I second going to Cape Cod. We've been twice and it is gorgeous. We stay in Boston though. If you do stay around Boston they have great whale watching (we saw about 100 whales when we went).

We've also been to Martha's Vineyard. We found the island very touristy but we didn't see the entire island as we didn't bring our car. It would have been a lot more money so instead we used public transporation and cabs.

There is a good deal that includes Boston Aquarium and the whale watching tour. The aquarium is excellent. I'm not sure if you have kids but there is also a children's museum in Boston that is a must for our kids every year. It is state of the art and very reasonably priced.

There are lots of beautiful beaches within driving distance from the Boston area.

Boston is approx. 8 hours from Toronto. Not sure how far from where you live.

Was in Cape Cod about 25 years ago, so I don't remember anything about it, except that the water was freezing!!!!!!!!

Tell me did you go to the beach or only stayed in Boston city?

And yes we have 3 kids, 13-9-9!:goodvibes

We always go to the beach in the summer if we are in Boston or area. We stay about 7 or 8 days every summer on our way to/from from Nova Scotia.

Some times we stay in Boston, sometimes in Portsmouth, NH, other times in Kittery, Maine. They are very close together with tons of beaches along the way.

Boston is my favorite city. It reminds me of Halifax, Nova Scotia but with waaay better shopping!

Joy, this sound fine! Do you have the link to where you stayed?

Thanks!:goodvibes

I booked my rental through Cyberrentals.com, but I just checked and I don't see the place I stayed listed. I guess the guy's not renting it out anymore. :confused3 I stayed in Centerville, MA; directly across the street from Craigville Beach. I did notice they had 2 pages of listings for that area.
