DVC veterans here.....DW and I are going for a quick trip over labour day weekend and I wanted to surprise her with something special. Any suggestion on an "Experience" we can try?....and go!

TIA!

If you want to splurge... Victoria and Albert's. You'll never justify the cost.... But it's a bucket list thing. Took my wife for 10th wedding anniversary. She loved it... And the had a heart attack over the price lol.

Fireworks cruise
Wanyama safari at AK which includes dinner at Jiko
Fireworks dessert party - likely have to be Epcot or DHS
Tour in the parks

The Wanyama safari is just for AKL guests, it's a fun thing to do but unless you are staying there not happening. They do have that new morning one that is open to everyone so that might be fun.
Do a wine tasting at Jiko or at the Wine bar in Italy.

This past May DH and I took a ride in an amphicar at Disney Springs. It was so much fun! The only draw back is that you are out in the full sun. We did it in early May but it might be too hot for something like that in early September, though it might work if you went early in the day. They had umbrellas you could use to provide shade but we didn't need them the day we went. There are some photos on this website: http://www.theboathouseorlando.com/amphicar/

ETA: I forgot to mention the price. I think it was $125. There were discounts available (for DVC and AP holders I think) at the time we went.

The boat holds the captain and up to 3 passengers. Leg room in the back was a bit tight. There is a review with several photos here: http://www.orlandofunandfood.com/amphicars-review-at-the-boathouse-at-disney-springs/ and an article with a lot of information on the amphicars here: http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2015/12/08/up-close-with-the-amphicars-of-disney-springs/

Second the fireworks idea. We had a private boat out of the Poly for a fireworks cruise, and prior to the show we had about a 45 minute ride around the lagoons and a very interesting history lesson about the islands, shore, and construction of WDW.

Will you have a car? Does it have to be a Disney thing? We really enjoyed going to Escapology last year for our anniversary getaway. It's an escape room company that offers several highly themed immersive escape rooms. We had a blast and it was nice to do something non-Disney for a change.

It depends on what you are into:
sports: golf, mini-golf, fishing, marathon, bowling, ESPN Club, WWS/ESPN Zone, etc
shopping: DTD, area outlet malls, large scale malls
drinking: Jellyrolls, Raglan Road, monorail tour of resorts, walking tour of resorts in the Boardwalk area
movies: DTD 24 screen theater some with meals served by waiters
night clubbing: Jellyrolls, Atlantic Dance, Raglan Road, Citywalk
resort tours: monorail tour of resorts, Boardwalk around the lake tour of resorts, horse drawn tour of FWC, AKL/AKV
offsite: Gaylord Palms Resort, Citywalk, swamp tour
eating: Formal GF 5* Chef's Table @ V&As

There is something new at Jambo, breakfast at Boma and go to the animal places. I'm doing that in September and also lunch with an Animal Specialist in Sanaa. I've done the lunch 3 times already.

Seas Epcot is fun if you like water activities.

Lunch with Imagineer at Brown Derby.

Tea at the Grand Floridian.

We ate dinner at Tiffins yesterday, the meal was out of this world delicious!

The Segway tour at Ft. Wilderness, Wild Africa Trek or parasailing...

just came back we did everything but go to the parks this trip (way to hot) we went to LaNouba, we went fishing on Bay Lake (rented a boat with a guide), We played Golf (again very hot) We went to Typhoon Lagoon, we went bowling at Splitsville in Disney Springs , we stayed 3 nights at AKL so we did the private night safari (was great went on a truck and drove through the whole resort got right next to the giraffes, and we went to Victoria and Alberts for Dinner one night (Pricey but fantastic)

For my wife's 40th I did a full day of activities for her

1. Hired a private company that specializes in organizing scavenger hunts inside the parks. We gave them a bunch of gifts to hide though the MK with clues to the next one.

2. The last one was a picture frame with a ticket to a private photo shoot at the boardwalk. I hired a pro photographer for a few hours to shoot the family around the BW and beach club beach.

3. Then at the beach club I had a private fireworks cruise for illuminations set up and waiting for us.

If you would like any info about the scavenger hunt or photographer fell free to ask. Both were really fun experiences and the photographer was great and got amazing photos.

lol nah...I doubt it. Honestly, my wife was dreading turning 40 and being we were going to be on vacation when it happened, I wanted to keep her day filled with fun to keep her mind off of it. You only turn 40 once and to have it been in the parks we even better.
