My husband bought me a Nikon Coolpix X4100. While I love that he bought it for me we realized that it has terrible reviews as far as longevity.

So - I need to return/exchange to Best Buy. Does anyone have a recommendation?

Are you just looking for a point and shoot? If so, I would take a look at the Olympus waterproof cameras.
It is the only camera we bring with us to WDW because we never have to worry about it getting ruined.

Yes - just a regular camera. Someday I'll go bigger but for now I just want to be able to take pictures and need it for our trip in April too.

I have a Panasonic lumix zs8...it's an awesome camera. Has been on sale prior to Christmas for as low as $149 @BestBuy/amazon/. I am all about hte zoom and this has a 16x optical which is awesome for a compact p&s camera. Takses great movies too. We have been fans of the Lumix cameras for years. Have fun choosing your new gift!

I agree with the Panasonic Lumix cameras! They are awesome.
I have the ZS5.

I agree with Lumix I have had one for the last 4 years and love it.

Our Sony digital camera broke after only a year and a half and it is no longer under warranty :headache: I am going to have to look into the Panasonic Lumix based on the feedback on this thread.

I love my Canon SX230. It's little, lightweight and takes great pictures.

I have the nikon and I'm not wild about the picture quality or the durability so when I was looking for an inexpensive camera (under $60) for middle DS for Christmas I picked up a Lumix on a lightning deal at Amazon. It's only been a couple of days but I have to say that so far, considering it was a bargain buy I'm really impressed with the picture quality and how easy it is to use.

Lots of Lumix fans! I have 2 and they have been great cameras!

We recently bought a Pentax Optio WG 1 camera and it took amazing pictures during our WDW trip last week. Low light, bright sunshine, under water, you name it, the pictures came out great. It is waterproof, shockproof, freezeproof, etc. Since cameras can get wet and accidentally drop out of pockets/purses at WDW (or anywhere, really) I'm really glad we got this one as it won't break if any of those things happen. It is also very light and easy to use. Highly, highly recommend this camera!
