Looking for a music download site...

Does anyone know of a good site to download music from? If I have to pay I don't mind, but I don't want to pay a lot. I'd like something that is ad-free too and doesn't install spyware/adware onto my computer. Does anything free, legal, spyware/adware-free exist?

Is Limewire like iMesh, peer-to-peer file sharing? Is that safe? I used KaZa a long time ago, but quit.

iTunes is the industry standard and offers music tracks, music videos, movie trailers and tv episodes, each costing between 99 cents and two bucks a piece.

For payment free downloads LimeWire is a good bet, but be aware that downloading music that you don't own without payment is just a *tad* illegal.
