Hello, I have a Nikon D-7000. 35mm & 18-105 mm Nikkor lens. Both great lenses! I use my 18-105 a lot, but in a few situations I wish I could get in a little closer. What the next step up as far as zoom from my 18-105 mm, that you would recommend. Thanks

Im in the same boat as you, my longest is a Sony 55-200mm but want something a little more. Looking at Tamron 70-300mm that sells for about $199. I have a Tamron 17-50mm that is phenomenal and love it so may give that one a try.

I have recently added the Nikon 55-300 VR to my bag, and so far I really like it when I want the extra reach -- and it seems to make a pretty decent portrait lens at or around 300mm. If you get as close out as you reasonably can to your subject, zoom all the way in, and position the subject with some separation from the background, you'll get a nicely blurred background. But that's based on my early tests -- maybe someone else here who has used it for a while could comment on whether that holds up.

How do you like the 7000? That is the next body i would like to get. I have the kit 18-55, 55-200 and 24-70 2.8 which is on the camera most of the time and a great lens. There are times i would like to get a 200-400 or longer but that is after the 7000.

The Nikon 18-200 VRII is a great lens. If you don't mind switching lenses, there's also the 70-300 VR. It's less expensive, but very sharp - one of Nikon's better values.

Neither is fast glass, but the VR is very useful.

I love it! It's very easy to use & learn. It was recommended to me here on the photography board, & I've had it almost a year now! For me being my first dslr, it was a big step.. I don't think I'll grow out of this camera any time soon. Learning more everyday! :thumbsup2

Thank you! I'm heading out to DHS this afternoon with some friends. It's the 35th anniversary of Star Wars and also a Star Wars Weekends day. I'm hoping to find something interesting.
