Looking for a hotel that will sleep 7 people

We're now planning a trip for mid-May and are (ideally) looking for a hotel that will sleep 7 people. 5 adults, 2 children (4 and 6). The extra person seems to be killing us, as most travel sites I've found only let you search for rooms up to 4 or 6. Although a room that sleeps 6 would be fine space-wise (since my daughters are so small), there's no way I want to break the rules and try to sneak an extra person in.

My ideal room would be (please hold all laughing until the end):
  • sleeps 7 people
  • refundable (didn't realize how important this was until I had to cancel our last trip within a week of departure)- within walking distance of Disneyland
  • free parking
  • free breakfast
  • free internet
  • for $120 a night or less

You may laugh now, or point me to a hotel, website, or give tips on how to achieve this. We can do two rooms, if needed, but would prefer a single room.

Desert Inn and Suites is right across the street and has rooms that sleep up to 10 I think. The parking is now $8.00 per night and a $4.00 resort fee but the price was still good and those came up in the final price quote on the website. I think they are very strict about 1 car per room even if it is a suite. I have not stayed there but did seriously consideri t for our upcomming trip. You can cancel it up to 48 hours in adance I believe and they did not charge anything to my credit card.

That last requirement, $120 or less, is going to be tough. Have you checked Park Vue Inn though? We haven't tried the place ourselves, but a few people on the boards here have had positive things to say. I don't know if they can accommodate a party your size, but I have read that they have family suites with 3 queen beds, so it sounds like a possibility. I'm pretty sure they meet your other criteria.

We had a family suite booked there too for $136/nt but that includes a free hot breakfast and light evening meal so it would be a pretty good deal.

The following hotels offer 2-bedroom suites that sleep up to 8 people. Most of these include breakfast, you just have to shop around - Residence Inn Maingate (I prefer this one - love the Penthouse Suite, but might be too expensive, not sure); Residence Inn Resort on Harbor; La Quinta Inn; Desert Palms; Cortona Inn & Suites; Staybridge (I think).

There is also the Doubletree (not sure if they take 7), that is a little farther away, but they do have their own shuttle to the Disneyland Parks.

If none of those work, then I recommend two rooms with connecting doors - that typically is less than a suite. Good luck, & let us know if you can get it. :)

the staybridge has a two bedroom suite - sleeps 8, free breakfast, free parking, has a refundable rate, not sure about internet, But it is over $120 a night last I looked. Last time we stayed there (4 years ago) it was a bit run down, but had a great "homey" feel and the breakfast is awesome! Also not within walking distance. We are staying there again when we go in a few weeks :0)

The Super 8 Anaheim at 415 West Katella looks as though it meets almost all of your criteria. The only thing is, you would have to get two rooms. However, the cost of one room with two queen beds for 7 nights in mid-May is about $374, well within your budget even if you had to get two. It has everything else you were looking for, though I don't know about the refundable part.

No free breakfast, but the Anaheim Plaza Hotel is listing such a room for $178 per night with no listed discounts--if you call and ask for an AAA rate or an Entertainment rate, that might put it more within reach.

I really appreciate all the suggestions and am looking in to each of them. You guys are so very helpful!:)

We have stayed many times at the Staybridge suites and its big enough for atleast 8 people in the 2 bedroom suite. It has a room with a king bed and br,another bedroom with 2 queen beds and a br then finally a sleeper sofa thats very nice. Itt also has a kitchen and a reg size fridge, free breakfast and snacks/drinks certain days of the week. we stayed there for 7-9days at a time and its nice

Thanks for all the replies! I'm currently seriously considering the Homewood Suites by Hilton® Anaheim-Main Gate Area (I emailed them and they confirmed that we could have 7 people in their one-bedroom suite). I know it's not within walking distance, nor does it have free parking, but even with the parking fee (but not including taxes), it comes in just under the $120. Ironically enough, that's about equal to or less than two refundable rooms at nearly all the 2-star hotels I have found for my dates. My parents were all for a walking-distance hotel, but my sister was completely against it, saying she doesn't want to be walking back in the dark after a long day in the park. Does anyone know of any reason (other than having to drive to the park) that Homewood wouldn't be an OK choice?

Just remember that parking at the parks is $15 a day, so figure out how much parking is at the hotel PLUS parking at the parks each day and see if it's still in your budget. Also, Anaheim taxes are ridiculous. I want to say it's in the high teens, so you really need to factor that into your budget also.

We have 5 kids and have found two adjoining rooms to be a much better match for us than a suite, We like having two bathrooms. We usually stay at Hojo, in their standard rooms. These rooms are quite large and have roll-away beds in the closets. We often get the entertainment rate, so it's very affordable.

You DEFINETLY need to call the Howard Johnson!! With the entertainment rate they offer you could probably get 2 rooms for the price you have in mind. They are about a quarter mile from the park gates, about a 15 min walk. No breakfast but they have internet in the room. (bring a longer cord!) They staff is GREAT, our dd left her favorite stuffed animal in the room when we left and they shipped it to us no charge. Also they have a GREAT kids pool area. If you read the boards you will find several reviews about the hojo! It is our place of choice. With 4 dd's, 5th being born on the day of this post, it is GREAT for our large group!

Extended Stay America sleeps 4 per room, and we paid $61.99 so two rooms would just be a little over your price request. We stayed at the one on Clementine..........Free parking at hotel (and easy walking to the Toy Story parking so you can take the bus to Disney and not have to pay Disney parking, that's a savings of $14 a day I think). Internet was $4.99 PER STAY, not per day. They don't have breakfast, but the rooms come with a full size fridge, stovetop, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, sink all in a Kitchenette, so you can easily bring food and make simple breakfasts.

I've read good things about the Hojo and I do have the Entertainment book... I've never done the calling thing for a hotel discount before (totally an Internet girl). Is it best to call asap, or is there a specific timeframe in which you're allowed to book?

HI, Ive been having my eye on the Staybridge for my upcoming trip in August. I knwo its not across the street which is fine by me, but do you know if the ART system passes by there or right in front ideally? We're not planning to rent a car for this part of our trip so unless we can ride ART distance is not an issue.

Also is there an eating area. I do like that they have a full kitchen. Not planning on making big meals but it just makes it more homey and comfortable to prepare things when need be. Thank you in advance.

do you mean eating area in the room? if so there is a small table in the kitchen area that seats 4 if I remember correctly.
we never made big meals but it was nice to be able to make some quick mac and cheese for the kids! What I really loved about this room is that we could put the kids to bed in a room, close the door and watch tv in the living room area! also loved the 2 bathrooms and 3 tv's.

Yes, sorry I meant in the room. Oh cool. So happy. All those things you mentioned mean the world to me during vacation with 4 kids. The 2 bathrooms is a major plus I have a 15 yr. old girl. lol and she was delighted to have her own bathroom and we did not mind at all. Thank you. How about the bus service do u recall if they picked up at the hotel? :thumbsup2
