I leave on Sat. and just realized I am going to be pale as can be in my shorts!! Looking for a really good (kinda budget) self tanner. I heard Victoria Secret's is good. Any one have any ideas for me?? TIA!

Hawaiian Tropic makes a good Creme Lotion self tanner (I have only found it at Wal-Mart this year). I use it with the Loreal Sublime Bronze tanning towelettes to get a good quick tan.

Does the Hawaiian Tropic self tanner smell wonderful like the Hawaiian Tropic oil? I ask because I have yet to find a self tanner that doesn't smell horrible.

I use the target brand tanner. It's gradual and doesn't look orange and is pretty forgiving..

I just picked up the lotion from Bath and Body Works. It smells like citrus and is a nice natural color. The lotion stays tacky for a little while and it takes about an hour for the color to mature to the darkest it will be. I am really pale though and it's a really natural tan color, not orange at all. They also offer the same formula in a spray bottle if you think it would be easier for you to apply before a day in the parks, but it was the same price for less ounces, so I went with the lotion.

Good luck!

I've been using Jergen's for years. It dries fast and looks really nice especially when you get a little bit of natural tan. It builds gradually though so you have to use it everyday. Have fun! pixiedust:

I love love love bath and body works self tanner. I have been using the jergens gradual tanner, but normally end up using bath and body works tanning lotion for more color

I'm going to have to try that too! I thought maybe I was just paler than normal this year :lmao: because Jergen's doesn't seem as dark as it has all the other years I've used it!

Okay, help me out here. I'm super pale and have the kind of skin that just doesn't ever tan-- it only burns.

I have thought about using self-tanner on my legs, just for a little bit of color, but won't that look weird if the rest of me is white? Are you supposed to use it everywhere? And how dumb would it look to have tan legs and arms and then a white face?

Maybe tanning isn't for me.

It does smell better than other self tanner lotions and kind of like the sun tan lotion, but it does have a slight smell after it's applied later in the day, but not like the disgusting feet smell some of them have.

I have used the Jergens gradual tanner and it turns me orange. I am pale but tan right up a nice brown in the summer. Will the Batha nd Body works turn me orange? Also, I have to be careful b/c I used a tanner on my face once and it made me ridiculously dark overnight and I looked ridiculous.

I haven't tried self tanner in years after these 2 debacles. Thansk OP for the thread, I need help too!

I like the New L'Oreal Sublime Bronze 360 Degree Spray. It does not have that fake tan smell that I absolutely despise and seems to linger for days with all of the other brands I've tried. The 360 Degree Spray design really does make a light, even mist application. You don't have to rub it in, and it dries super fast. The "tan" seems to last a long time too.

I have also used the Jergens for years and this year it just doesn't seem as dark to me. I like how forgiving it is, though and am afraid to go with something else!

I see some posters mentioned their face but I didnt see any responses... can you use these self tanners on your face too?

I have used the Jergens and this year bought it for my more white complected daughter, who really likes it, however I think it does tend to give me pimples. :(

Keep in mind that most self-tanners don't have SPF so you will want to use sunscreen also. I haven't needed any tanner this year, even with using sunscreen I've gotten quite dark just from working on the pool and throwing a frisbee for the dog daily. My dermatologist isn't going to be happy!

Oh I hear ya! I am naturally paste white and I proceed immediately to burnt. There's no point in my ever trying to tan. I joke that I use self tanner on my legs to give the illusion of life :rotfl:. My legs never see the light of day and even with my daily, year round bastings of SPF my face and arms at least look like they belong on a live person. My legs are neon white.

I use a tinted self tanner on my legs and that stuff is a Godsend. The tint lets you know exactly where you're putting it so that you can avoid streaks and the tint also gives you that lifelike look from the second you put it on. The self tanner part works gradually but I can bring my legs out in public right away.

The tinted self tanner that I use is by Estee Lauder. It's not budget but a bottle lasts me about three years because a little goes a long way. You get a nice, gradual, natural looking tan and it lasts.

This year I'm going to be test driving Lancome's version because I got a free sample.

There are self tanners made specifically for faces and I'd seek those out as opposed to using the body stuff on your face. I stay pale anyway so I just use some bronzer for when I want to look like a live girl :lmao:.

I looooooove Faux Tan by Bare Minerals!! It's $22 for a bottle BUT hear me out! It lasts FOREVER! Seriously, if I "tan" on Monday, it's good until the next week! AND it's made with walnuts, so it's a greenish color.. which means no orange :) I never need a lot for coverage! I highly recommend! :thumbsup2
