We are getting close to our trip and panic has set in!!!!!!

I have always used a fanny pack. For this trip I want to try a backpack since the kids will be with us and I will have to tote more stuff.

I can't seem to find what I have visualised as my idea backpack. I would like to find one that is smallish, not like a school backpack. Also, I don't want lots of zippers or pockets, just a few.

The only backpacks that I have seen in the stores that are the right size are the kids (small) backpack. I tried one on and the straps were way to small for me. There are some purse backpacks that are about the right size but the straps seem too thin.

I have looked on the internet but there are millions of backpacks out there. I don't have a clue how to narrow my search down.

Soooo....does anyone have a backpack that they love???? I would really appreciate some info about it!

thanks

I'm going on the quest today to find the perfect backpack. I have something pictured, but I can't find what I'm looking for. I'm going to Dicks today (sporting goods store). I'll let you know what I find. Good luck!
If all else fails, I did see one in the camping section of Walmart that was OK, but not the one.

Check out ebags as they have a ton of styles. I got a Healthy Back bag (comes in different fabric-leather, nylon which I have as its light and easy to clean, and microfiber, and different sizes). I use it as a diaper bag and to tote my 3 yrs old stuff around. The idea behind it is that it has a lot of pockets inside and you put stuff in those. It is designed to balance out the weight to reduce the heavy feeling on your back. I like it and it does seem a bit lighter. It only has one shoulder strap though so not a true backpack.

Holy cow! I just looked on that ebags site and they have a ton. Check out the daypacks. They also have these really cool looking waist packs that are larger than your normal fanny packs. I'm ordering a couple of backpacks from there. The prices aren't bad.

Someone mentioned in another post that if you go through a link on mousesavers.com that there is a 20% discount. I have not tried it yet.

I bought DS (2 years old) a smallish Jansport backpack (to use as a diaper bag) at Things Remembered. The straps can be shortened or lengthened, so both he and I can carry it! I've been really pleased with it, and the thought had already crossed my mind that it would be perfect for use at Disney! :earsboy:

Everytime I go to K mart I check out the backpacks. I have gotten a lot of great ones there. Check out the clearence ones. Last year I got clear ones for $1 and then was there a couple weeks later and the same ones were $12. I also got a small backpack with just the right length of straps for like $3. It's worth a try.

Good luck!!

There is a travel bac-pac at wal-mart that I have been eyeing for our trip. It is in the luggage aisle. It's only $9.99. It is a smaller bac-pac with a main compartment, and a smaller one in front. With compartments for credit cards, money, etc. They one I have seen is black. It's perfect for us to put our video camera, and any necessesity's for the parks. Although, when I checked yesterday they had run out, so if you see one, buy it right away !! Good luck !

Don't get a backpack. Get fanny packs for the kids too. Unless they are younger than 6, they should be able to keep up with their own autograph books, cameras, etc. Save your back and split the load.

I got a waist pack from ebags and use it at WDW all the time. I can carry my sons autograph book, pen, snacks, my digital and video cameras (both small), sunglasses, wallet, and I use it to hold on to small purchases like pins. Works great, no lugging around a backpack and forgetting it somewhere, etc. It does have two bottle holders, but I never used them for that.

I found one at Target today for $19.99!
It's pretty cool. I'm such a dork and I'm so excited, that I've already packed it! I found it in the camping section.
:)

I also bought a mini Jansport like Macrosswife, but I bought mine at Mervyn's. I use it all the time and I too plan on using it for Disney. My daughter even carries it for me. The adjustable straps make it a cinch to alter. I think you would like it too!

For parent toting, I bought a great pack at SierraTrading.com called a ParentPak 2.0. (On sale for $28.00 about 3 months ago when I shopped there...) It has lots of pockets outside for water bottles, etc. and has lots of organization options on the interior. It has cushioned backpack straps, loop handles for handheld use and plastic loops to add a shoulder strap if you choose (shoulder strap sold separately). Good luck shopping! :)

I bought a backpack at Walmart.. in the regular backpack area. Its awesome. has a zillion pockets and two places for water bottles. Whats the best thing is.. it is big enough for me.. yet not so bulky that i cant pass it off to my dd10 for her to tote for a while.

we are taking an umbrella stroller (we call it the "caitie-mobile") that my dd4 will likely only use late in the afternoon when her little legs cant keep up anymore.. so we can push around the backpack when she is not riding.)

We carry a Spiderman backpack we got on sale at Kohls. Its more the plastic kind than cloth which I like better so it wont absorb any water should it rain on us or it gets exposed to any water.

I'm eyeing the new LLBean "Stowaway" back pack. ($19.50).

It looks like it's not huge, is really lightweight and packable, and has two large mesh pockets for water bottles...exactly what I'm looking for! (Nice colors too) :teeth:

Good luck on your search!

for $19.99 each...and they fit fine on a larger girl (I'm a size XL/16), and great on the back of my stroller (the baby trend Euro Trend--LOVE IT).

It isn't too bulky, and large enough to hold what I think we'll need. We bought two--one for each stroller or me/dh to carry.

GOOD LUCK!
Donna :)

Another vote for target! They just got their new styles in for summer. I like the ones that just go over 1 shoulder since that's how I always carry them anyway.

I am trying to decide between two choices- the drawstring ones from target (backpack like straps) or a sling backpack like the one Jansport has. I dont know which one will be more comfortable. Any ideas?
