I made her this fun altered canvas to display her Disney pins.

When we are at Disney parks the kids like to do pin trading. They are all very specific about what they traded for this year. Carissa traded for only "girly" ones, like princesses, Minnie and Tink. Tristan had remarkable restraint and traded only for Stitch pins. Chase went crazy for hidden Mickey pins.

In addition to their trading pins they also purchase one pin from each park as a souvenior. The boys now have 3 parks worth of pins - WDW in 2001, Disneyland in 2006 and WDW in 2008. Carissa was just a baby when we went to WDW so she had just two trips worth of pins.

Well, I had finally decided to make a display for all of their pins. I stared with Carissa, as she had the fewest number of pins. Here's what I made.

The pins actually in the canvas are the pins she purchased from each park as a souvenior. Below each pin is the name of the ride and park it is from as well as the year. The ones hanging from the ribbon are her trading pins that she may (or may not) want to trade on a subsequent visit.

Thanks for looking!

What a great way to display her pins. You did a terrific job! :thumbsup2

I LOVE IT!! Finding a way to display my pins is on my list of future projects, and now I know what I'm going to do:). I don't trade, but I do pick up a pin or two every year. Thanks for sharing such a great idea!

That is fabulous! I have an extra canvas here at the house and can't wait to try it!:cool1:

Add me to the scrap-lifting bunch! I have a handful of pins from my honeymoon that I won't trade so I think this would be perfect!

That is super cute! I just may have to try it for my small people. :) Thanks so much for the inspiration!

That is SOOOO cute. What a wonderful idea. Are you taking orders?

Did you use material or scrapbook paper to cover your canvas? I love it, it is very nice!

I just love this idea...I'm love to have the instructions on how to make it.

I just love it!!!I'm working on my Disney room right now so I too may need to "borrow" the idea!

I used scrapbook paper to cover the front. Around the side edges is a very beautiful wide ribbon that hides the rest of the canvas.

Super easy. I bought my canvas at Michael's. I covered it with scrapbook paper. The front edges is a strip of wavy decorative scrapbook tape but a wavy strip of paper would work well also. The corners are Making Memories leather corners that give the canvas a bit of depth. The Mickey head is just 3 circles of black cardstock which I edged with clear sparkly puff paint. Then I added a wide ribbon to the side edges of the canvas and tied a bow on the top. My title was made with letter stickers and chipboard letters, but you could really use anything for this. Once I had the canvas decorated I coated it with matte Mod Podge and let it dry. Then I added the pins (I used glue dots to help them stay at the angle I wanted) above the labels that I had already placed there before the Mod Podge. For the pins hanging I just used a strip of super wide ribbon and stapled it to the back of the canvas. Voila. Super easy and fun decorative display.

Oh, and the biggest tip I have: Make sure that when you adhere your papers and edges to the canvas that you coat EVERY INCH of it in adhesive. I use a wet adhesive that I paint on each piece. That way when you add the Mod Podge the paper won't bubble.

Love it! I'll have to give that a try. For my first few trips I bought collections of pins with a theme (Parks, Pooh and friends, Princesses) with the intent of displaying them, but I only got around to putting one collection in a shadow box so I stopped collecting them. Maybe if I get the ones I have onto the walls, I can get some more next trip!

That is just to cute...

Love it... makes me want to be a pin trader!!
