Longshot, but... Does the Little Red Wagon cook up gluten free corn dogs?

My wife and I will most likely be traveling to DLR in October and I have it on my list to destroy a corn dog from the Little Red Wagon.

But I'd feel terrible about it because my wife has celiac disease and won't be able to partake due to its fried goodness.

By chance, do they offer a gluten free corn dog?

Thanks!

They don't at this point, but don't feel terrible about eating it anyway.

I'll feel terrible up until the point where my teeth makes contact with the food. Then I'll be like

The GF corn dog sounds like a great idea. They could easily convert all the dogs to GF and make it better for GF eaters.

That being said, if I ate one of the corn dogs, it would take great and I would be happy for 5 minutes...then... 3 days of discomfort and socially unacceptable behavior followed by sleep and pain. Not really worth it.

So... where can I get a GF corn dog... in Anaheim?

I don't think many people that eat corn dogs worry if they are gluten free, but it would be easy to change

But then they would have to find space for a separate fryer and it will make the line take forever. I doubt a gluten free corn dog would taste that great and this is coming from a guy who doesn't mind most gluten free items.

Why would a corn dog that's GF be any different?

Hot Dogs are GF, unless they are "cheap" with fillers, Corn bread can be made with 100% corn meal, skip the wheat flour or use alternatives. If you are only cooking GF food, the fryers are no different. Oil has no gluten... unless you cook gluten items, then it does.

They only sell one thing and it could be GF, very easily, and taste the same...or better.

the red wagon is totally worth it...my wife is also gluten free she knows what's up when we go past the red wagon!:sulley::sulley::sulley:

I just wish I didn't need to go past it.. It's a simple change to make to make them safe, I would prefer to get a corn dog.

But why bother? You know how hard it is for me to get lactose free alternatives virtually anywhere aside from whole foods or trader joe's? Why not let me have some vegan cheese at the pizza port or lactose free lasagna somewhere?

Ask and you shall receive.

Many of the restaurants can accommodate these requests. I know the River Belle did great things for me last time I was there. You need to speak with the chef and having reservation with your food allergies in the reservation make it easier. If the person at the front counter doesn't seem to understand, ask for the chef or kitchen manager.

Disneyland and DCA has been the absolute best place for me to eat with my GF needs.

I'm talking about in general, not just Disney places. Disneyworld is pretty accommodating but Disneyland I've found, not so much for lactose free. We can't all have it all, people. So let's leave the gluten in this one and not change it. I'm bitter and lactose intolerant and I'm taking a stand!

Thanks for the replies and discussion, everyone.

@StormyCA: She'll be fine, and doesn't give me any grief. I just feel bad enjoying something in front of her that she can't enjoy, too. Especially on vacation at the Happiest Place on Earth. So, it's more me than her.

But, like I said, those corn dogs will help alleviate any apprehension I have about the entire situation.

Eating gluten in front of a Celiac spouse is one thing, but the last time I thought about it, she told me no kissing until it was all out of my system :)! Just not worth it!

fyi foster farms how makes frozen gf corn dogs so I can get my fix. agreed it would be nice if DL could reformulate the recipe to make theirs GF - very easy to do, but end product may cost slightly more.

Actually, most of the cornbread America consumes is mostly made of wheat germ. It has corn mixed in to give it the flavor. But pure corn flour cornbread doesn't taste even close to as good as traditional cornbread does. If it did, my Celiac wife would be really happy!

I've not seen these! I'm going to start looking for where they sell them.

The Foster farms GF corn dogs are ALSO dairy free ! We get ours at Winco. I think I've seen them at Safeway and Walmart also. I think they taste better than some corn dogs from other brands, but not quite as good as the regular foster farms corn dogs.

I have some GF corn dogs in my freezer right now. Got them at Stater Bros in So Cal, but they also have them up here in Nor Cal at Raleys.
