What is your favorite garden view (non-concierge) longhouse and why? If we have a chance to upgrade to lagoon view - what is your fave and why? Can't wait to hear opinions for all you Poly lovers!

I can't comment on GV but we were there in August and stayed lagoon view Tahiti and LOVED it! The view was amazing. We could watch Wishes from our patio every night. Also the electric light parade. One of the big pluses of this longhouse is that it is just around the corner from the TTC so its a quick monorail ride to either the MK or Epcot. It's about a 3 or 4 minute walk to the Volcano pool and the GCH but we didn't mind. We used this walk to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of the resort. Hope you are able to upgrade. The view is priceless.

We always request either Samoa or Fiji. We have gotten and loved both. :D

Pardon my ignorance (Poly newbie here). Are Somoa and Fiji garden view?

Yes Samoa and Fiji (both sides) are garden views. Anything that is not a direct view facing the lagoon is a garden view including marina, pool, garden areas, monorail view and parking lot views are considered garden views. The only bad parking lot view is in Rapa Nui east side. There are many great views and locations.

I don't hear a lot about this longhouse, but it's my new favorite - Aotearoa.

I had a GV there last year and had a great view of the Grand Floridian. It was very close to the Marina and the GCH. I went when it was HOT and it was nice being so close to Captain Cook's to refill my mug (had to walk right past it on the way back/forth from the monorail). The only downside I had was that since it was on the far edge of the property it made the walk to the TTC for the Epcot monorail a LONG walk. I read about complaints from the noise of the Luau, but it never bothered me - I didn't hear the luau itself, but when it was over there was a short period where you could hear the crowds leaving.

I have read somewhere that some rooms in Aotearoa had neat views of the monorail as it comes into Poly. My boys would get a kick out of that but the distance to the TTC would be a bummer.

I guess it's up to the individual, but this August we really enjoyed Tokelau on our honeymoon and it hasn't even been refurbed yet, to be honest we didn't think it needed it, it was great.

Our favorite garden view is samoa, volcano pool side, 1st floor, room 1602. I havent stayed at rarotonga but I could also live with rarotonga quiet pool view because its also very close to the gch (monorail access), quick walk to bus stop and arcade and close to captain cooks for mug runs, we also had aeorotora monorail view, the room was very bright and sunny but we did hear the luau noise and I didnt like fighting all the luau crowds and after luau crowd poly gawkers just to get back to my deluxe room etc. If you ever wanted to walk to the ttc from there it would be a hike and very incovenient during storms , cold or hot weather etc. No second floors for garden view only 1st floor or 3rd floor as it has a balcony. Good luck deciding.
