Wow, WDW's lines are much shorter than
Disneyland, even after the introduction of the famous Fastpass. We never stood in any line at WDW at any park for longer than 25 minutes during Spring break.
As a kid growing up near Disneyland, back in the 60's and 70's, our family waited in many very long lines. Starting with the cars lined up all the way down Harbor Street and around the corner to Ball Street. It took at least 30 minutes just to get to the parking lot entrance. Then you would get out of your car, and stand for another 30 minutes to SQEEZE into the parking lot tram that would take you to the park entrance. All the "E" rides were a minimum wait of 1 hour, most were closer to an hour and a half. The Matterhorn line, even to this day, wraps all the way around the mountain on both sides. We've never stood less that 45 minutes in the Matterhorn line.
We went to Disneyland for grad-nite in '77. This was the year Space Mountain opened. We waited in line just over 3 hours. Was it worth it? Yep, we were young party happy teenagers that were just graduated and free, and one of the first to ride this new attraction. Time was no issue. Now, there's no ride on earth I would wait 3 hours to ride! LOVE FASTPASS!
Peter Pan ride is always a long wait. We've stood in that line with our own kids years ago for 90 minutes. No ride in Fantasy Land is shorter that 1 hour wait until 11:00 at night when all the little kids go home.
Opening year of Rodger Rabbit: we stood in that line for 2 hours. Every time we thought we were almost there, we ended up in another room with switch backs. This ride is worth a 20 minute wait, but not 2 hours.
Another ride we stood in on opening year was the Rocket Rods. Again, over a 2 hour wait. This was the worst ride Disney has ever come up with. I feel like that's 2 hours of my life I'll never get back! I still am unforgiving to Disney for that one!
We spent this past New Years Eve at Disneyland. Indiana Jones ride was never shorter than a 45 minute wait. But the worst line of all times was the Haunted Mansion. The line was a 180 minute wait from the entrance sign, but the line continued past the entrance sign all the way back to New Orleans Square train entrance. Fastpasses ran out at 9:30 that morning. We didn't stand in that line!!! We waited till late that evening and the wait was only 65 minutes long. The attraction was the Nightmare Before Christmas set-up. OUTSTANDING!!! Definitely worth the 65 minute wait.
