Hi all,

I know it will be hot, hot hot in aug. I was told by my friend tank tops only, no t-shirts as it will be too hot. SO I have 10 tank tops for our 9 day trip. lol

And will I need to pack a long sleeve shirt or sweater for evening. My friend said when they went to Fantasmic they got wet and were very cold. That was in May. Will it be cool at night there? We are going Aug 17-26th. Also wondering about the air conditioning in the restaurants, will it be chilly in there? I am always cold in air conditioning.

How many pair of shorts would you pack for a nine day trip. Before this my summer wardrobe consisted of one pair of shorts and two tank tops. Now I have 2 pairs of shorts but need more, but not sure how many pairs I will need.

An excuse to replenish my sad summer wardrobe. lol

Thanks

Native Floridian here. I would bring a few t-shirts to wear. You'll definately need more shorts. Might I suggest some skirts. For some reason, they always seem cooler and I can wear them more.

I always need a light sweater, jacket when we go inside to the restraunts, and some of the indoor attractions.

All depends on the person, my husband is always fine.

Personally, in August I welcome any form of air conditioning I can get. We usually bring a pair of long pants and jackets, but never use them. I'd bring one, but if you forgot, I don't think you'll have anything to worry about. :)

I have a zip up sweatshirt that I wear to the restaurants at night. Even in August, I find the restaurants a little bit cold. It doesn't take up any room in the suitcase because I wear it on the plane, too. I haven't felt a need to bring long pants in August.

I second Kim1964,
the restuarants can be chilly especially in the evenings so I bring a light sweater. I pack a couple of pair of capris instead of long pants.

If you are from the north, like me, you will find it unbearably hot. When we go in August, I used to pack a sweatshirt and jeans just in case but have never used them. It is pretty much hot, hot, and did I mention hot? The only place you may need a sweater is if the air conditioning in a restaurant is turned on too high, but we've never had that problem.

Well my shorts are not short they are more like walking shorts or capris, knee length or just above the knee. I have all tank tops, but will bring a light zip up sweater for the restaurants and the plane. Off I go, shopping for more shorts. lol I don't like skirts as I tend to get chaffing, especially if it's hot and that will make me miserable :sad2:

Our TA just called and all our documents are in!!! :woohoo:

Three weeks at this time we should be just about to land in Orlando :cool1:

Oh my gosh I am sooooo excited.

Thanks guys.

I will be wearing mostly skirts this trip and have found
"Monistat Soothing Care Skin Protectant- chafing Relief Powder Gel"--
which is made to relieve chafing from Moisture, heat rash for inner thigh and bikini area. Works great!!:thumbsup2
I found it with the Feminine care products at Target.

I'd bring about five or six pairs of shorts - you can often wear them more than once if they're darker colored (and won't show stains and creasing as much as lighter colors). Remember, you can always do laundry mid-trip if you need to! (I find doing laundry gives me a nice break from the parks, and I don't feel like I have to re-wear dirty, sweaty clothes!)

I'm not much of a skirt fan in humid weather - even with anti-chafing products, it's just not comfortable for me. I do like "skorts", though (combination shorts/skirt), which look a little dressier but still have the shorts underneath.

I like to bring a long-sleeved item with me when I'm in air-conditioned shops and restaurants - the abrupt change from hot and humid to a/c cold gives me goose-bumps. I started bringing a lighter-weight, long-sleeved denim shirt with me on my last trip - it's more compact (folded up) in my bag, and more lightweight than a sweatshirt. I really liked using it on my last trip!

I have a light weight zip up hoodie that I always like to have with me. Just like others have said, some of the indoor attractions/restautants get really chilly.

I have never felt the need for a sweater, sweatshirt in August but some people do get chilly in the evening in the AC. As far as skirts go-I personally would not wear them because I actually get hotter in skirts. I think for me it is like the mitten theory-mittens are warmer than gloves because the fingers are warming each other up. In skirts, my legs are rubbing together with nothing in between creating heat and friction-thus sweat and chafing. However, this is not true with all people-take a long hot walk in both a skirt and then in shorts and see what suits you better. Also I personally would bring both a pair of good walking sandals like crocs, tevas or something of that sort and tennis shoes with comfy socks.

I don't bother taking sweatshirts or long pants to DW. It's hot there and I prefer to wear shorts and tee shirts. Even if wearing shorts makes me have to shave every other day... I just avoid dark colored shirts as they make you hotter. I do wear dark shorts at times, mainly cargo shorts as I can stick a bottled water in the cargo pocket!

Just a tip for anyone who is eating at the Sci-Fi Dine-In at MGM, bring a light jacket or sweater for inside the restaurant. We ate there for lunch last Aug. & it was freezing!!! My DH who is Never cold even said it was too cold in there.

Ok, here is my wardrobe;

1 pr lightweight cotton beige walking shorts,
1 pr. light cotton khaki walking shorts,
1 pr. light cotton brown walking shorts,
1 pr. cargo cotton white shorts,

9 tank tops - various colours like brown, grey, red, blue, burgundy, etc. I dont plan on bringing any tshirts, just tank tops and a light sweater.

My tank tops are all cotton, very thin material, not see thru tho so they are very lightweight, all dark colors though. Even though they are dark colours, will that make a difference in how hot I am??

I don't mean to sound stupid but in Ontario except for a while ago, it isn't as hot here as it will be there, and am never outside for long, long periods of time when it is, so I don't really know how I should dress. lol

I also have a few pairs of terrycloth capris I can wear if it is chilly, but dont think I will need them.

Shoes, the only thing I have are my crocs, which can give me a blister on the top of my foot, so I bought moleskin today. I don't have runners, but don't reallly want to go buy a pair just for disney. Or should I?

Do you think I am set now? All you experienced dissers let me know if my clothing list is good or not.

As for my sweater, I plan on buying a disney hoodie to take back with me.

Thanks guys.

Steph

Depending on how long you're going to be there, maybe take along a few extra shorts if you have room. And if you do get "runners" (here in the US, they call them "tennis shoes" or "sneakers") then make sure they're broken in before you get here!

Well I am going for 9 days. I am not going to take any more shorts as I have bought a wholenew wardrobe for my son and I as we didn't have much in the way of summer clothes. Not to mention, trying to find shorts that don't cost a fortune!!! So I think I will go with that, and just do laundry half way through. I am also taking one sundress. At this rate, I won't have any spending money for disney lol

I am just not sure on the sneakers yet. I just dont want to buy a pair and then not end up wearing them. I will test drive my crocs with the mole skin and see how they do. I wear them at work for 10 hours a day on my feet with no problem but went for an hour long walk and got a blister ont he top of my foot. I may just take another pair of flip flops.

Now I just need to decide on what kind of bag to carry at the parks....Decisions, decisions...lol

Thanks

Steph

I agree to this! I always bring at least one skirt, something light weight. I highly recommend board shorts. They are usually made of a microfiber type fabric, are very light weight, and dry quickly when they get wet. That is pretty much what I live in when we are there in Aug. I have worn a really light weight water resistant jacket a couple of times, because of the storms. The coldest I have been is on the airplane! :rotfl:

I have heard of some sort of Glide stuff that you apply to your feet, it helps with rubbing and blisters, my daughter uses this and it really helps. cant think of the name, can anyone? also I usually wear longer shorts or capris, I think they are more comfy, no chafing and also will take you into the evening if going to dinner after a day in the parks and sitting in the a/c after sweating all day. We usually dont go in the summer months (native floridian) July & Aug are the hottest!
