This is for you film users.(there must be few here:lmao:) has anyone used the developing stores at Disney I believe there is one on main street and below the Globe at Epcot? Are the costs of delevoping there rather exspensive? I have thought about taking one of my SLRs next trip but didnt know about travelling with film? would you buy film there or bring it with you?

Don't know about the film developing, we always got ours developed off site. However, I can tell you the last time we were there and needed film (5+ years ago), the film on-site was at least double what you would pay at any other retailer. They had a captive audience and charged accordingly.

If you have access to a car while you are there, you might be better off driving to one of the (fairly) close Wal-Marts or Walgreens.

You have got me thinking about pulling out my old Pentax A3000 as I am sitting here packing for a trip to Florida (non-Disney this time)! Haven't shot any film for a long time....

Traveling with film should be no big deal. Just have it "hand checked", it only takes a minute or two. There were a good number of film SLRs still in use back in January of this year, not everyone has gone to digital yet. :)

BTW you may be interested, I just picked up another film SLR over the weekend... we were at a community garage sale and saw an old bag (a "Bug Bags foto bag" as it turns out) on a table, with a little glint of silver showing inside. I peeked in and found a Spotmatic SP500 w/55mm F2 on it, plus a Sigma 28mm F2.8 and 135mm F2.8 (the latter in original case) and a nice set to Vivitar auto extension tubes in original case. It was marked at $20 and I happily paid it. :) The Spotmatic and 55mm are a little rough but seem to work fine (despite a note saying that there was something wrong with the winder - it seems fine to me), the other stuff is in terrific shape. So now I've got two Spotmatics. :thumbsup2 If only I could find that kind of thing at every garage sale! Anyway, the Spotmatic II will probably be joining me on my next WDW trip - the SP500 will probably get one roll of film put through it then just occupy shelf space.

Man why is it that I never find these sales. Just picked up a MZ-7 myself but dont know which to take with me. Leaning towards the ME since i picked up a cable release for it and the spotmatic. looking to use film for some fireworks shots

This was the first time I've found something like this at a garage sale! I did see someone with a table of old folding cameras but they were more than I wanted to spend (which wasn't much); she had a Bronica medium-format inside that she'd sell but she wanted way too much for it.

The best luck I've had in terms of local buys has been with Craigslist, I've had a few good finds on there.

It must be a Pentax thing the only responses I get are from two other Pentax users. Are we the only people that still hang on to film out there as something we shot in conjunction with our digital shots?

I have a 503cw that I use all the time. Got rid of my Canon DSLR stuff, just does not hold a candle. I have a little P and S for those snap shots. Trying to find something that will do a good job but does not require a pack mule to haul around.

You are not the only one's....

Jack
