Long rant about a weird situation

Sorry this is so long but this is the weirdest thing I've heard in a while.I have a girlfriend that has been a dear friend for upwards of 20 years and she has the strangest things happen to her but this one takes the cake. She is at WDW right now with another woman and 4 older teen children ( 2 hers, 2 the other woman's). Two nights ago DH & I are out to dinner with her husband. their oldest DD calls him on the phone and says "we have a flat tire what should we do?" he says "change it!" and the proceeds to ask where they are etc, etc... and then tells her to call disney security and maybe someone can come help them out, the conversation ends and then 5 min later she (the DD) calls back and says the car rental co is coming out and bringing them a new car in 30-45 min., conversation ends again. Last night the husband calls my DH and says that his wife called later that night and told him her version of the story, that the 6 of them were driving to AK to eat dinner when all of a sudden out of no where the orlando police threw down a tack strip in front of her car because they were looking for a guy in a trailblazer so since she was driving a trailblazer too they saw her car threw it out and she drove over it and punctured two tires. After this happens(according to her) the police just say "sorry " and get back in their car and tell her they will call disney security but they have to go get the bad guy.(I swear I am not making this up!) and leave the 6 of them on the side of the road. She tells her husband that she needs to pay for two tires, and that she called the rental co & the police but they won't do anything it was a mistake. Now this story makes no sense on so many levels that I don't even know where to start. The DD who calls the Dad just says we have a flat , doesn't mention the tack strip thing in two phones calls!! If that was me I'd be hysterical! Also the police are just randomly throwing out blowout strips in front of cars endangering the lives of innocent tourists? Also correct me if I am wrong but the Orlando police? WDW isn't in Orlando I think its patrolled by County Sheriffs(I may be wrong) I think she drove over something ruined her tires and doesn't want to tell the husband-is this bizarre or is it just me? What do y'all think?

Sounds to me like she drove the wrong way into an entrance that had the one way spike's in the pavement and doesn't want to admit to it.

That's what we think too. But you gotta ask just how gullible is her husband? :confused3

Sounds like this to me too. Also the DD said a flat not two flats. So a discrepency in the story.

No,its not just you. This whole story reeks of fabrication, however people say truth is stranger than fiction. :rotfl2: Nah, maybe she's scared of her dh or she is the type of person that nothing in her life could possibly be her fault. Does your friend ever act bizarre other than this once?

Sounds like she's a nut.....quite frankly. And I mean that in the kindest way... ;)

Anyone ever call her on these weird stories of hers? I cant imagine not *questioning* one of my friends if they came up with stuff like this. How weird!

Nah, I'm almost positive that this kid drove into the wrong entrance and doesn't want to break the news to dear old daddy.

If it had really happened I'm sure she would have mentioned it in the first call

That's quite the tall tale. :teeth: Who knows why she came up with such a story.

Sounds that way to me, also.

No the DD was not driving the Mom was and yes she is a nut and really strange things continually happen to her and she has gotten "busted" quite a few times- we call her "lucy" because she comes up with some winners! But what cracks me up about this whopper is for some strange reason her husband believes her- The DD's thinks she's a nut too but she's their Mom so what can they say? My DH told her husband to call the police and demand some payment on the damage, so then the police can say "What???" and then maybe he (theDH) will see the light- he thinks we are "picking" on his wife by saying this is a tall tale.

You are right about the Orange Country Sheriff's office, they do patrol WDW for speeders and such. WDW isn't actually located in Orlando. Hmmm...

LOL

I have to laugh because I too know someone who has all kinds of strange things happen to her. My husband and I are convinced that she starts out with the basic truth and then adds so much fabrication to it that you can no longer find the truth in anything.

Oh the stories I could tell you about this one!

 :rolleyes1 :moped: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

I, for one, believe her. Ive had it happen to me many, many times.

One time I was walking from EPCOT to Universal Studios and actually got MACED when a Florida State Trooper said he was looking for a mugging suspect. He didnt even say he was sorry - just kept on walking. Because I was so blinded by this pepper-spray he used, I had to get on the Monorail, and got off at the first stop - SeaWorld. I went to the on-site hospital they have, and I recovered *just* in time to watch Fantasmic.

:teeth:

I have a BIL like this. So many things happen to him that he can't possible be believed. And I agree that he starts with a true story and embellishes it so much that it ends up being unbelieveable.

I think people do that sort of thing for attention. They get the reputation for being "wacky", so they get away with a lot of bad behavior because people say "Oh, well that's typical Bill" and roll their eyes.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: she should be a creative writer with the imagination she has. Good talent gone to waste. :teeth: Boy could I tell you stories about her and they are all about this out there  my DH says he's glad he's not married to her!

my mom has a friend just like that. you can never really believe her. also, when something happens - its NEVER her fault.

instead of admitting "I didn't pay the electric on time" she says "ever since Wal Mart moved in - they use up all the electricity."

and she has to drive an hour to the bank - to pay her cc in person - because THEY won't post it to her account?? :rotfl2: what cc company doesn't want to take your money?

not to mention - she has 2 separate post office boxes - the USPS just can't deliever mail properly!

Then I have an aunt - who actually - and she still claims this - the cow HIT HER on the road. And when I was a kid - we had to stand for an hour at City Hall (at Disneyland) so she could gripe out customer service - how the Emporium should take her cc for a 4.00 piggy bank. The reason?? It wasn't signed. Why?? she doesn't sign it - because people could forge her signature !! :rotfl2: now THAT takes the cake for dimwhit. Hello, lets just let them do it in their OWN handwriting!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Somehow I'm not buying this one. OPD and FHP don't use spike strips unless they are in hot prusuit, and then only when there's no chance an innocent bystander will be affected, because they quite often cause a vehicle to go out of control.

Other than a carjacking in Winter Garden yesterday, the usual crap in Crime Hills, and a purse snatching turned shooting, most of the news has been pretty run of the mill--nothing they'd be using spike strips for.

I think she needs to learn to read the bright red signs that say

DO NOT BACK UP
SEVERE TIRE DAMAGE
WILL RESULT
